I understand that the heavy military look is on its way out /is out, but are military-inspired blazers such as the following still look stylish without looking out of place?

Of note, there are no epaulettes, which is what I like. And yes, I realize this is a very casual piece.

I've had my eye on this piece for awhile, just not sure if it'll look tacky or dumb by next year.

What kind of repair can be done to this? Back of the heel tearing through 1) inner lining 2) cardboard structure and 3) outer leather from the inside

I'm looking for a sports coat primarily so that I can look great while going out on dates.

Budget: hope to spend < $600. I'm mid 20s, 5'8'', and a muscular 165 lbs.

It would be great if you guys gave me some pointers or recommendations.

I use my stick in public. My stick is amazing so I choose not to hide it from the world.

Is that the wool W+H overshirt? Nice layering piece but it won't be warm enough fr the temp you're taking about. You're gonna want a warmer piece--like an actual overcoat or a down jacket or something insulated more than that shirt.

Epaulet (SF affiilate--look for links in right hand sponsor bar) makes incredible sport coats right around $650. If you can pony up the extra $ you will not regret it. Amazing fit and easy to tailor. Alternately, the Apolis Civilian Blazer is affordable and a nice simple unlined cotton coat that might work for you. And of course there's Uniqlo.

Hello,

What color/style of shoe would work with light grey chinos? What should I NOT pair it with?

Thank you very much.

I think in general peak lapels on a single breasted suit is more fashion forward. I wouldn't wear it to situations that call for more conservative wear like job interviews, meetings with customers, etc. It's different if it's a double breasted suit, they don't look right without peak lapels. You can also maybe double-check with the Men's Clothing forum as they are more into the suit game than here.

Maybe it's because I was never personally a fan of military inspired blazers, but yes I don't think you will be seeing that much of them in a few years. Field jackets like the M-65 will never go out of style but military inspired blazers will soon I think. Cotton or knit blazers are different and won't go out of style. Have you considered one of those?

I know you aren't asking about style, but I personally would not wear peaked lapels for a job interview.

I really hate to be that guy, but any chance of finding out what boots Ryan Gosling (I know) is wearing? I realize half the appeal is them being scuffed. High chance they could be some random ass name/some vintage shit.

Get cheap boots and a handheld belt sander. And use care. Or beat then up, but if you want them to look like that right away then sand

Rather than post a full thread about this, I have what I hope is a simple question: Who makes the second shoe in this image, how much is it, where can I buy it?

http://north-west-winds.tumblr.com/image/36818982631

Specifically the black one with the white stitching. It's a very handsome shoe that I could see working fantastically for more casual things. However, I don't recognize it and my skills at the interlink have failed me in my search. Everything seems to lead back to Tumblr and (because Tumblr hates me) no one ever cites anything on there. I even tried a Google image search where I uploaded the image!

Can anyone help me?

I'm not necessarily looking for beat up boots I was looking to see if anyone knew what model he was wearing. Perhaps its a popular boot. Just pointing out that they may not even.be nice boots it just might be the fact that they are scuffed that make them look nice. I would never purposely rip or 'age' any of my clothing

What size 501 STF should I buy?

What size N&F should I get?

If it helps...

I wear 29 in Dior 19cm (a little slouchy)

28 in APC NC (a little tight)

29 in Nudie SJ (a little loose before being washed)

and 29 in N&F (a little tight)

Based on this, I'd say that N&F jeans fit a little tighter than their same-sized counterparts.  You should probably size up from your APC and Dior sizes and get a 29.

Of course, I'm no expert - this is only my experience with the cuts that I've tried.

Ah, really appreciate the advice. Yeah it is the W+H merino wool overshirt. I was thinking of getting another coat to layer on top like the W+H mac coat with the overshirt being the middle layer. Would that work?
