It really did help sweep up a large number of trivial comments into its system, while also encouraging rapid instant feedback. I know that I for one have posted more comments in the WAYWRN thread using the thumbs feature than I ever bothered to do when multiquoted. To provide feedback to, say, five outfits through the multiquote system requires a fair bit of editing of those quoted posts to remove/spoiler photos & generally compress the thread so the quote isn't egregiously long, and that's even before you get around to commenting on the content. I really can't be bothered with all that. So there'll be less feedback overall, plus the return of people requoting whole pictures just to add "looks great". Admittedly, some people never stopped doing that, but overall, the thumbs helped with it a lot.

It's a shame to lose that in MC, especially if the abuse was relatively isolated to SW&D, as has been suggested upthread.

I don't how it was so helpful because people would keep having to quote the thumbs to reply to specific commentary, thus clogging up the thread anyway. Thumbs still get rid of most of the "+1" comments, which I believe is their supposed intent.

Also, much of the quoting problem could be solved if we could get the automatic image/reply spoliering,

We are actually going to do a daily auction! I was going to do all the auctions at once, but this spaces out the work for me, and also makes the auction much more fun. we tried this before. I will read every one of his posts but what do you want me to do about it if he acts out and what power of enforcement do I have?

 

I want to say yes but unless you want to give me mod power you may as well just tell him to have at it and he's banned if he posts anywhere other than RFT or WAYWT. wouldn't that be effective enough?

 

or tell him he can only post thumb comments OH WAIT biggrin.gif

also on second thought, since 90% of his stuff is directed at me, I'm probably the wrong person to police him anyway. I don't want to hinder his creative spirit.

 

but I'll do whatever I can, if you want to give me that option.
