The app gives you a different way to access the site that is more friendly to less-advanced smartphones. IMO, if you have a smartphone you are able to use most websites on, I wouldn't bother. Tapatalk is 3rd party so it won't be free, but on the plus side if you like it, it works with a lot of other forums. It's only $2.99 total, but I agree, I don't generally pay for apps and this is the first one I have paid for. It seems to work well though.
Yeah, I am not a fan, tbh. I much prefer using the Safari client to just browse on the iPhone. I got it to see what the hype was all about, but I think Ill just stick to Safari.
