Since those in the mod queue eventually get placed into the thread at the time position they were submitted, the threads have typically moved on somewhat.

As far as I can tell, there are three reasons posts get held automatically:
1. new or low-post count member, especially if links or pictures are posted,
2. trying to submit the same post multiple times
3. IP or terminal match with someone who has been banned or has had multiple posts deleted.
But if there is an exact number of posts or time of membership before posts aren't held, I don't know what it is. But maybe J or LA Guy know. My guess is that theres a formula that takes into account the things I listed and a few other factors.
