Oh, and ironically, P., my thread warning people about Ambrosi and rescinding my endorsement was squirreled away to Dumb Threads precisely because moderators did not step in to filter out the garbage before it piled up too high.

As to point one, I am glad. I didn't think management would tolerate it if you did object but am glad to have it confirmed.

Yeah that's what I mean. I have sometimes started silly threads, but most are meant to be genuine. It baffles me that they only get DT'ed because moderators didn't moderate them.

But one should point out that I am not a mod in MC.

As I stated, I am a fan and appreciate his insight, just trying to point out in a friendly fashion part of why I think he gets trolled so often. And as there is a generally hands-off, hesitant to delete forum moderation policy here (that has been consistent for as long as I've been around, anyways), I think it would be hard to moderate everything.

DH is a nice new concept that begins to address things particularly for people like foo.

I support DH for foo. Hell, I'm the one who proposed it.

Let me clarify my thoughts on point two. I feel that I've contributed a great deal to the forum and, in the process, I have often become mired in personal, character-oriented arguments. In more than five years of membership, and 15,000 posts, there has been virtually zero moderation of overtly personal attacks against me. I have tried my best to handle them on my own. I think I complained once, about Moo. But that's it. And in that time, numerous of my threads have been removed to DT precisely because off-topic comments piled up too high in the absence of moderation.

So, I figure, this new "Dubiously Honored" thing would have been a good opportunity to let me keep things clean on my own and keep contributing. If they don't want to give it to me, I can only assume it is because they are fine with how things have been and/or don't believe my contributions to the forum are worthy. In that case, it is hard to take the implementation of my face as an emoticon in a way that isn't ill-spirited on the part of forum management itself.

I think there is a third explanation, which is they fear you will abuse it. But then that's an argument not to give it to me, also, isn't it?

Also, while I have become less patient and more ruthless in my defenses over the past couple of years, I've endeavored to be as patient and civil as humanly possible.

I think the Foo should be prohibited from deleting off-topic / vicious posts about the Foo
