That's because someone else is reading your PMs...

Yeah, I was having problems with it this morning. I reported it in technical but I don't think anyone is even reading those threads any longer.

i considered going there, but also, based on the number of posts listed in the subforum i figured here was the right place.

mods, where would such an issue be best to report?

edit - looks like it has been fixed. thanks.

I did. A Jew (not stitches) reported the actual term you used as racist. I didn't recognize the term, and so deferred the the reporter's knowledge. Sorry I forgot to pm you about it. I usually do when deleting posts. Had 90 posts to go through last night around midnight.

Not sure if you're serious, but I doubt that. I'm having the same issue. It only seems to happen if I've already looked at and replied to the original pm.

But, guys, I don't think this is an issue that needs to be discussed here. It's about admin, not moderation. I think it's best to LA Guy or J if no one's answering the tech thread.

that's retarded

if you want, ask a persian jew -- haganah who is/was around these parts can tell you, they prefer the term "yahoodi" to the term "jood" because the latter carries negative connotations and has historically been used in a derogatory manner. given that i was speaking to a persian, i used the word in persian that is preferred by persian jews. whoever told you this is silly

What exactly is retarded? A little precision would be helpful here.

Interesting. Start a thread on it if you don't mind. I'd love to hear a discussion on the topic.
what's retarded is the person reporting something for what it's not ...

here's the discussion with haganah i had over PM :

Yahoodi or Kalimi, preferably Kalimi. Joud or joudi or whatever other combination is akin to juden or even sometimes Jew depending on the speaker in English. If you pay attention, when anti-semites speak they don't refer to "the jewish people"...they refer to "jews". And btw, I've never seen a Jewish person use the word Kalimi - it's just a polite word used by Muslims.

hmmm, shah, PM me the text of the post if you dont mind. i think these things are often very subjective. some jewish people do not mind certain names, others take great offense. depending on the age, parents preference, demographic, schooling.....

i have never heard the word kalimi btw. also "juden" most often connotes the phrase "juden raus" meaning "jews out" a phrase the nazis used when searching for and gather jewish people in the holocaust. i imagine most jewish people would take offense to juden. "jew" is a variant thereof, that some people find offensive (and as shah said, most anti semites use that word) and others do not.

it also depends on the relationship of the person saying it, and who they are saying it to.

you can't take offense to something that's not offensive unless you're clueless ... i don't even care about the post being deleted, i just don't think it's good to throw around the term anti-semite or report stuff as such when it's clearly not and tarnish my already tarnished name round these parts shog[1].gif

pm sent !
