Why is SF a magnet for spam? I frequent a lot of boards and none receive this amount of attention.

Somehow, some way, this is San Fransisco's fault. I just know it.

I think it's because SF has a large and active membership, as well as a wide, wide range of topics in discussion at any time. Compare that with, say...basenotes, or badgerandblade, or benzworld. Those have a considerably sharper focus, which means that spam is a lot more likely to be ignored. Their hit rate on, say, Air Jordans is likely to be far better here than for benzworld. BTW: I have a pair of Air Jordans I'd like to off-load but I'm afraid it would be taken as spam. (no, not a joke.)

I considered that but there seem to be a number of general and popular forums that receive nowhere near the amount of spam that SF does.

Is it possible to change one's user name?

I'm kinda wanting to go back to my old school internet handle back when I used to troll Counterstrike servers with gay porn...

I would like to ask to the moderators on this forum, why do you make selective bans (and always in the favour of someone with higher post count). I really dont understand it, and when i send an personal message about the issue, i dont get any response on it. It's so frustrating to start over again with posts.

Think of Styleforum as a neighbourhood bar, and the moderators and administrators as bartenders and proprietors. We are here to keep this place enjoyable. In general, all other things being equal, regulars are going to be given the benefit of the doubt over new guys, unless that regular has a history of starting shit (yeah, there are always those.) Before you say "no fair", remember that the regulars have been buying drinks and contributing to the atmosphere for years, and probably understand the culture of the place considerably better than you.

We are not infallible. If you have a legitimate complaint, and are completely without fault in the dispute in question, then by all means PM us. On the other hand, if you participated in the fight, don't point towards the other guy and say "him too," because we are not going to be sympathetic.

So your actually saying that trolling is acceptable as long you are above the 1000 posts and belong in the 'older members' group. It just an weird logical when the instatigator getting proctected just because of his history above someone else. I also like to know why it always appears to be an 'spam' message on the ban when it has nothing to do with it. I also would like to know if deleting someone account is the only penalty on this forum. Without warnings or temporary solutions.

If you get banned with a spamination, it means not only do they want you gone, they want all of your posts gone without having to go through one by one to delete them. Regular bans get rid of members but keep posts. It really isn't hard to stay out of trouble on this board, if you keep getting in e-fights, stick to the clothing sections of the site which are generally more tame. If you really need to air your grievances with the world, there are far better means than on a clothing forum (this is assuming you got banned for posts within the General section, which is usually the case)
