I deleted the "Conversations with Jack Smith" thread. Wasn't really egregious or anything, and Jack Smith might have enjoyed the attention, but it rubbed me the wrong way. To use the bar analogy - if all someone does is nod their head at someone else's comments, and they're a good customer, I don't think they deserve the cool kids rolleyes.gif making fun of them.

But Bhowie, feel free to start a thread about what gigantic vagina moderators me and MrG are. Especially MrG.

heads up to the people in charge. right now i have 3 banner ads at the top of my screen, from center to far right. usually, SF trunk show, ercoles thread, and a general SF logo. all of them link to the ercoles thread at present.

no hate to mr ercoles.

Jack Smith has not given you a thumbs so you are being punished.

Can you consolidate the Gustin kickstarter thread into the Gustin affiliate thread. No need for both of them and they are both active with similar discussion.

This has been an issue for me for a while:

When browsing the mobile version of the site, clicking on an image doesn't take me to the image - it takes me to the first image in that thread's image gallery.

What are these notifications I keep getting that someone has quoted me in a post?

I think it is a great idea (and I may have actually asked for it during the early input phase on the new SF), but I think emails are too strong....I don't want a separate email everytime someone quotes me, can it wait until I next come back to SF? Or maybe a daily digest that gets sent in the middle of the night listing any thread that quoted me but I haven't read yet?

I really like the way that Slickdeals does it. You get a little AJAX popup in the corner of your screen (less intrusive than the SF "YOU HAVE PM" popup) that tells you that you have been quoted. You can have more than one of these if you are quoted in multiple places. This is great because it pulls you back into threads that you might not have returned to. If you skip one, there is an activity tab somewhere on the site where you can see all recent quotings/alerts/etc.

The problem with the emails is that I am just going to ignore them. I check into SF frequently, so if I am not browsing it, there is probably a reason. By the time I do come back to SF, I'm going to forget that I had an email.

Would just be much more convenient/less annoying if it happened inside SF instead of via email.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting an e-mail notification of being quoted. Do not want.

You've got mail.

its always been an option, though i have never used it. i would imagine the default got changed in the recent updates. just go to your profile preferences and change it back. easy as pie.

I'd still like to see some sort of in-forum notification...especially if you get quoted into a new thread (so you can see when people be talking shit about you).

Emails are a pain though...5 of my last 10 emails have been notifications from SF...

Haha.  Blame that on Parker.  It's actually a single banner - Parker just likes white space...

You can opt to turn off the different notifications settings in your account.

I changed my prefs; not a problem. For future feature enhancements, perhaps it would be better to notify us of the new feature rather than turn them on by default. I spend all flippin' day on SF as it is...
