Only asking because I swear a company used to be an affiliate and had a thread and now I simply cannot find it, but perhaps it was all in my imagination anyways.
The first time I noticed an affiliate thread had been squirreled, I was surprised too. What Matt has said about there not being a perfect solution seemed right on to me. Fwiw I wanted to add that when I google almost anything clothing-related, SF is one of the first links if not the first to come up. If an affiliate thread gets deleted, that deprives the company of that exposure. Of course, it also deprives SF of the traffic. But it seems like its deletion would be a powerful incentive for an affiliate to stay on. Of course, like both of you, I have nothing to do w/ the financial aspect of the forum.

It's clear that the mods will never be able to truly get rid of him, so why not allow the user community to effectively decide how they want to consume the content he generates.
Actually, it was his simultaneous use of multiple socks that got him into trouble in the first place.
