I know, right?

We prefer "cissite" around these parts.

Yeah, this has to be the number one unanswered request.

And unlike auto-spoilers, it is a clear problem that needs to be fixed (and is only a problem that exists by trying to make the website fancy and AJAXified...if it just loaded "subscriptions page 2" instead of trying to insert more onto the same page, it would work 100% of the time).

I personally don't know how much I support auto spoilers...it would clean up a lot of threads, and wouldn't be a big deal if you could easily unspoiler them when you don't want them spoilered, but it seems like it would be a controversial change.

I'll look into the subscription thing. I don't personally use subscriptions, preferring a "browse randomly and seeing what might be interesting", so unfortunately, this has not really been on my radar. I will bring it up with the technical team.

The auto-spoiler thing is simply not going to happen. This is an increasingly visual medium, and it makes no sense to take away the "visual". Also, in order to keep the community active and vibrant, we need to keep bringing in new members, and new members do not have the history and knowledge of a thread that might make the spoilers a plus rather than a minus. A compromise, and good, solution, would be to allow moderators to easily spoiler posts and even consolidate posts, but the workload extremely high with the present tools. It is unlikely that we are going to have the new tools necessary to make that happen for that in the foreseable future, but imo, it's worth looking into, and I will. Things are a little crazy behind the scenes right now, so it's not a great time to ask for new features.

Cheers,

Fok.

So, could someone please tell me, as detailed as possible, what is the issue with the subscribed threads? I just randomly subscribed to 66 threads, and using the "more" seems to bring them all up. And I am using a POS (though military tough) computer that has only 2GB.

ITs the landing page of styleforum.net

you have the active thing that shows all your subscribed threads and updates as there are updates. It shows what, 25, then you click show more and it loads another 25. You click it again and it just has a loading circle but never shows any more threads.

Basically if you have a ton of subscribed threads you can only click to load more once at the bottom of the thread list. If you scroll down after clicking on it once already and click again to load more subscribed threads you just get the little spinning wheel, but more subscriptions won't load.

Exactly. Only seems to happen on the home page though--if you go to the Subscriptions page (http://www.styleforum.net/users/subscriptions/index/view/threads) it works.

I don't understand the bolded part. This request doesn't take away the visual, it just tightens it up. The complaint is that the same pictures are shown multiple times on the same page, not just that pictures are shown.

In any case, I would happily volunteer some of my time to clean up the MC WAYWRN threads as I read through them. Lemme know if you're interested... smile.gif

Thanks for your offer. I'll certainly give it serious thought.

The problem with the auto-spoiler is that different people see different numbers of posts on a page, depending on your settings, and there is the option of going directly to a specific post (last post on subscriptions, for example). If everyone had the same experience, this might be more feasible. In any case, engineering resources are stretched thin, and even if I agreed that this was an okay idea, it's not one for which I'd put my neck out.
