lol. To address Stanley's complaint:

The ability of moderators to do their job trumps the fact that some users like a specific feature. I consider the issue closed. I'm not sure that I can be more clear about it than that.

Eh, I don't agree with you here, Stan. The fact that the use of thumb comments became part of the culture in SW&D doesn't mean that members in other parts of site didn't know how to use it. Couldn't a similar argument be made that in threads that are about a particular brand that everybody should refer to each other as "nephew" or "cousin" like they do in the Alden thread? After all that became an ingrained part of the culture for the members posting in that thread. Different part of SF are going to evolve in their own organic way, which is to say differently.

Edit: Oh, and whatever Fok says.

This tends to suggest that you are American Italian...

Yeah there is weird shit in different corners of the forum, my point regarding both the thumbs and the thumb comments is that people in SWD made good use of the feature. I realize that's subjective to a point, but when a whole half of the forum is multi-quoting 5 giant pics in one post to comment "nice fit, old chap" and the other half is taking advantage of thumb comments to do basically the same thing, there is something that can be objectively said about adopting and understanding how to efficiently use features upon their implementation and appreciating the desire for a cleaner user experience on the part of everyone else who reads the WAYWT threads.

Even without comments, SWD still makes better use of the thumbs feature -- they just aren't leaving comments anymore.

And, to my original point, they're not replying either. So those expressions have just been lost (contrary to prior assertions that speculated people would post replies -- for the most part, that has not happened in SWD).

Yeah no worries, you already responded and I appreciate you addressing the issue even if it wasn't the response I was/have been looking for.

It's like praying. When I was a kid and my prayers did not get answered I was told, "They were answered. God just said, 'No.'"

I don't recall that we got an answer about the feasibility of spoilering pics by default in replies. Fok?

I am all for it. It's so annoying when the same post with 100 pictures gets quoted 10 times on the same page with no spoiler.
