I see references to the SF of 2010, 2009, before, whenever, all the time. Having joined in late 2011 I have no idea what you guys are talking about, but from all these comments I've pieced together an image of a blasted hellscape of Nudies, APCs, GATs, purple AA hoodies, Red Wings, Lane/Uncontrol meetups, a chinstrapped Bows, a Mikey obsessed with his next outerwear purchase, and a Miran left free to roam across the churning, primordial, sulfuric sea of Styleforum. It's horrifying yet somehow comforting, not unlike the realization that you are but one lonely and isolated consciousness in a vast and and meaningless cosmic landscape already eons old, sure to exist for eons further, your life a weak flash of light lost in the infinite darkness.

Old pic from when I could wear more than a tee and shorts without melting

OP/DD/Silent/Cloak same old shit but with Rafstros (thanks grizzlybear)

Crepe sole feels so nice, sand suede DBs FTW.

I knew someone would bring this up. It's not the same. Layering a fabric skirt over pants serves no function but it's also completely forthright about it. Buttons are functional items, and a henley is designed in a way which implies functionality but doesn't actually offer any. It's more like fake pockets.

Some people have big heads and can't fit through a crew neck, but still want the appearance of a crew neck, player. Don't hate.

Yeah, really like them. Gonna take them into the tailor tomorrow along with my cloak jeans, which are falling apart.

Interesting info (no sarcasm) Moo, thanks.

Yeah, I see what you guys mean, buttons on buttons. Henleys probably best worn with buttons open and on their own. I always thought 'Henley' wasn't just about the buttons on a crew/V neck but also a sort of placket or reinforcement behind it, sort of like a polo without the collar, and usually on a crew-neck. I looked at this as a more interesting V-neck tshirt and didn't know the henley workwear associations so will mix it with more rugged stuff or just toss at summer's end and replace with plain slutty v's.

But with more raw denim talk and Alden 405 sizing questions.

It's been said often but sw&d has enormously changed since 2009 or so. Just have a look through the old waywt thread, it's pretty striking. Most of the regular posters from then are long gone, Fuuma was there, Jet was there obviously, I think Willy was there also. Boat shoes backlash/DBs consecration had yet to happen, Band of Outsiders was probably the most talked about brand, everyone wanted slim shirts, workwear was exploding with WWM and EG. The quest for slim fitting chinos (and later slim fitting sweatpants) was a big deal. High-fashion was Kunk repping Rick, Socal repping Rick/Jil/Damir/Thom Browne and other weird shit and Jet talking about his knits, also BrianSD and a couple of others whose names escape me. Guys like Chronoaug and Magician also cared about those kind of brands, most other ppl were all about new standards and alden indys. Asobu was already posting YY waywts though iirc.. Berlin report and Pinkpantser had cool waywts too.

Ervell/Geller/Opening Ceremony/Obedient Sons and the likes were happening at the same time and eventually generated some interest, some new posters like ARW, kelvinsense etc started to go for more high fashion-stuff, rick, raf, jil... It was still mostly mid tier APC level brands but at some point I guess the multiplication of webstores, the deeper and deeper sales and the launch of GILT made the more expensive high fashion brands more accessible and definitely tipped the balance towards and new kind of consumption and a new kind of sw&d.
