I'm assuming the response was aimed at the clip SvB posted. The dude's speech was a historical fantasy about how great the U.S. used to be before the gains of civil rights and feminism.
Dude....like president Bartlet on The West Wing, Jeff Daniels' character is wistful for a time when politicians weren't afraid to appear smart or educated to the voting public, a time of scientific progress and reflective, as opposed to unreflective, patriotism. He doesn't lament feminism or civil rights.
so if you bothered googling the etymology of football, you'd find that football was called so because it was played on foot (plebians) versus on horse (regular people), that soccer was called so because it's a shorter form of association football as opposed to rugby football or american football, and that it was called soccer long before non english speakers decided they couldnt pronounce soccer and instead preferred to call it football which would have been confusing to people who played various forms of football
