this isn't the clever argument you think it is.

I haven't had more than a litre of pop for about 5 or 6 years now. I gave it up completely when I started going to the gym, and even after I left that phase of my life, I saw no reason of buying it again. I don't even mix drinks with it.

Let's see... if you look at the label diet soda has the same nutrition label as .. Water!
Except water is clear, diet soda is like crack, don't be a fool , shit has a ton of chemicals in it

i drink soda (rarely) for the caffeine. i don't drink coffee, and gotta get my pick me up somewhere.

also my original post was that i appreciate smokers because in socialized medicine (which the us is moving towards), smoking is a 'boon' to the system in the sense that it kills people off younger and thus allows society to avoid the burden of paying for expensive end-of-life care. i don't really care if people smoke -- my point was that i don't criticize people who do, or advocate for them to quit smoking, because i see a positive in their choice.

trying to equate a diet soda to cigarettes is stupid. the chart jet posed up above is basically making the argument that drinking soda is bad because it leads to obesity, and obesity causes lots of health problems. that might be true, but you can't draw as clear a link between soda and obesity and then obesity related illnesses as you can between cigarettes and cancer -- that's not to say that soda doesn't cause obesity, rather that it's a component among many, many factors.

soda has empty calories that largely come from sugar that promote obesity

cigarettes are chock full of carcinogenics known to cause cancer

what are you saying bro

Bt dubs, tegs, looking forwards to peoples untimely death, g-d forbid, because it might save you a few dollars in health care costs, is pretty fucked up. I thought it was a joke at first, but now im not so sure.

Well, many people dont want to be fat, but are totally cool with eating chemicals.

and i think playing parent to anonymous people on the internet and telling them how to lead their lives is fucked up. everyones choices have consequences, and sometimes those consequences are good or bad for society at large. health care is a big issue right now, and it's going to become an even bigger one in the coming years. one of the largest costs in our system (and any system) is end of life care. when you socialize medicine, those costs are born (even more so then they are today) by everyone.

and if i was 'looking forward' to people's deaths, wouldn't i be encouraging people to smoke? i'm not doing that. i just think it's stupid that people are preaching to bows about smoking. im sure he knows the risks associated with it.

i see. so not a joke at all. gotcha.
all the people telling bows to quit smoking?
