Thanks for the thumbs and comments, guys. I hope with this one I've achieved a lame, but personally significant milestone -- leaving the house in a blazer without friends or barristas asking why I'm dressed up, or whether I'm headed somewhere important. Baby steps.

Also get to rev up the next grail hunt, as apparently, there's a lighter, more summery version in terracotta:

Worst part of wearing blazers casually. By far.

Just curious, what type of area do you live in? Like, how urban/dense/whatever?

That's Dana Lee?  Looks identical to my terrycloth one.  I WANT MORE.

All the big towns or college towns of Texas -- Dallas, Austin, and the various suburbias. When I do see people in blazers, it's either in a #menswear context, more of a club thing, part of a self-conscious shopping outing, or (more comfortably) plays, concerts or museums. Never just hanging out. This could just be my peer group, though.

I know when I visit my uncle's family in Portland, though, it's just as DLester says -- dudes ripping it up old school, no one commenting! biggrin.gif

I've said it before and I'll say it again, you've got cool style Cola, and I mean this in no offense, but the best favor you can do to yourself and the way you dress is shedding a couple of pounds.

Q: W&H shoes with the leather laces... they're really long, am I supposed to CUT these? when they're laced up and tied up the loops/ends are super long, and they're the lows so nowhere to wrap around.

This country is number 1 on my to-visit list, but I want to do it properly (work there for a while, visit sites with locals), not just as a foreign tourist for a few days/weeks.

IIRC it's a tunnel inside the Amber Fort in Jaipur. Unlike the Red Fort, you can pretty much walk anywhere -- nothing is off limits, easy to find lots of little hidden tunnels and places that seem like you shouldn't be allowed to walk in them. This hallway was in a landing, with identical doorways on either side. On one side, the doors were intact and the hallway closed, on the other the door was broken down as seen in the pic.

If I had to make the trip again, I would see fewer places and stay longer. I was in a new city every 1-2 days, way too hectic (but I guess that's India).

How was the weather istasi? The only reason I say that is the last time I went to India was in December and it was still pretty fucking warm out... But I was further south and still the weather was mostly nice enough for a tee and jeans. I would have been on fire in a leather though.

I'm not sure if a black jacket works well with light jeans, thoughts? I kinda like the contrast.

Looks okay, but grey jeans would look better.

What do you do when you're standing on a railway platform after a cancelled train when it's below freezing with an horrendous wind whipping down from Siberia?

Take a photo...

Christy's cap
Nigel Cabourn coat
Common People trousers
Barker boots

and for completeness, not visible is a Uniqlo OCBD, Cabourncotton tie, and Uniqlo Merino/cashmere sweater

I still haven't warmed up...

^very nice MoK!

Pretty much my standard fit for school the past weeks. School is so boring atm, so happy only like 2 months left :-)
NOTE: Tee was stacking on my jeans, it is longer worn properly.

Sun was shining a lot and I felt a bit misplaced with all the black going on, so I switched jackets for hanging around the city in the afternoon.
