So you are basically saying if people like moo or jet post jeans+t+mediocre knit, they will collect thumbs because they have come a long way ?
But guys like bene will not, because they are faster to figure out their style ?
I dread the day when tagutcow throws on a schneider then.

Moo also had some different jeans going dawg. Not his usual "dad" jeans.

This might be the case for some people. Remember, this isn't just a Hot or Not board (whassup fellas); people aren't necessarily giving various posts a thumbs-up because it was superlatively good or something. In addition to being a hobbyist's forum, this is also somewhat of a community. People are likely to respond positively when posters like moo or caseyfud (sorry to single you guys out) or whoever else show signs of "figuring it out."

I think you're assuming a bit too much a bit too soon. Bene does some really cool stuff, and I'm sure he'll wind up becoming a mercenary thumb-collector someday; but I think even he'd agree that he's still in the process of figuring out his style. And to be more clear, it's not because someone figures their shit out quick that SF wouldn't respond as positively as "success stories." Look at posters like ivwri, the-arm, wlily, et al for examples of guys who seem to have always just "gotten" it—they get much love when they post fits.

People need to quit getting so frantically worked up over how many thumbs a fit gets. Different users click that tiny little button for many reasons; it's not supposed to be an objective calculation of a fit's success or something.

^Bene, doesn't surprise me. The dude is a walking insecurity and has me on follow ever since I schooled him.

Good post, who. But that community thing becomes extreme sometimes. I don't even want to measure this in thumbs and this is not personal (may moo shine forever), but the extend to which some fits are glorified and others not even recognized itt is somewhat disturbing. A bit more objectivity would do this thread good!

Also, sq needs this

to expect objectivity out of a fashion forum is hilarious. sw&d is about as subjective as it gets.

Lets be real, the only reason we give out thumbs is because we want the d.
