Bow tie is really silly, jacket is weirdly geometric, still not sold on the pants flair/fitted top, shoes are terribad.

I think he only gets a pass by some because he's obviously a handsome dude, it helps

bow ties in general or just the one I'm wearing? It's either Etro or Charvet I can't remember. Jacket goes with the hair... love/hate so we'll leave it out. But I actually am curious about the shoes. They really are just regular shoes... Sassetti I believe and nothing unusual. Why do you hate them so?

Bow ties rarely ever look un-affected, it's pretty rare and often is an age thing. The shoes have a drab color, an elongated toe and a squared off toe box. Sort of eurotrashy imo

i think that you can break the pieces down and harsh on them, but if you step back and just see it as a whole, i think the fit looks quite cool. and yah, he seems to be a handsome bastard.

haha... so now you know it's me you feel a little guilty!! No worries... I'm not offended. I agree with you on all accounts. Like the hair, jacket kinda love it or hate it.... bow ties are I agree somewhat affected for sure. But they've been growing on me....
[as an aside I've taken to wearing them on Wednesdays as my Civ Pro professor (who is actually quite famous) wears a bow tie every day and we do some silly bow tie Wednesday thing in a futile attempt to add levity to Civil Procedure (clearly impossible)]

agree about the shoes... although I'd say borderline Euro trashy... yeah. But I kopped 'em for like $95 and had been wearing them as I didn't have other shoes at home. But on the whole I think it's cool and I just hope others will as well.... respectful disagreement appreciated.

It's not about the looseness of the pants, it's the silhouette. They're baggy up top and tapered at the hem, while that tumblr image has a delightfully wide hem and I love the way it breaks over the shoes.

Ben, I think the proportion is ok with the cropped db jacket and drapey full pants. However, this outfit ages you tremendously and not only because of the glasses. I question in what context would you be wearing this outfit? For someone your age and good physique, this outfit hides all of that. It might be a certain aesthetic you are going for and I have seen some outfits you've worn in the past that shows a good example of this particular aesthetic and this one isn't one of them. I would rather see you in those graphic tees, leather jacket, and jeans that evoke a sexy cholo vibe than this and you really need to add some color in your outfit like something in the red family.

Pants are sagged and hug the thigh a bit but 2% stretch should be good. First pair of corduroy? I like how they feel

I don't mean to insult, but that's the first thought that came to mind. Maybe the pants might look ok as part of suit but in this outfit worn with a sweater, button down, and a printed bow tie, it looks old fashioned. I like the personality that your look evokes with the old fashioned clothing and metrosexual grooming, but it's a little too much with the bling bling watch and earrings. This look also ages you tremendously.
