Just swap the jeans out for something with a better silhouette+wash and this fit improves significantly.

Glenn Beck has launched a clothing line that he asserts is completely Made in America, and it includes the denim.

Right now, I wear Okayama-spun 14oz Japanese selvedge...I felt weird thinking Japanese denim and jeans are the best in the world, when it is such a classic American thing....but I guess it's true.  Japanese sea-island cotton, on the other hand, is a catastrophe.  The word "Sea island cotton" lost all meaning after Japan started spinning circa 2000.

Jeans aren't really that classic though. Pretty sure they only became popular as an actual fashion in the 50's or late 40's. I could be wrong but not by much. It's more of a modern American thing.

For sure denim is on the way to becoming classic, timeless, and effortless.

They're an American thing not as a fashion item but as workwear, where it's a pretty old tradition - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Levi_Strauss_%26_Co.
