Thanks for the thumbs and the kind words. People in this thread have generally been very helpful with accurate and insightful criticism.

TBH, M-F I am in full MC, so the SW&D side only gets to come out and play on the weekend.. I think there is at least one other regular poster in this thread that lives the same way (GDL, I'm lookin' in your direction). To answer your question, I don't think they really notice much of a difference. They just know that I generally care more about clothes than they do and that tend to look "different" than others.

Saw some dude fall into the river at Cambridge while punting, was hilarious

Goddammit I love England so much. It's always so hard to leave. I'm back in LA now and have a thousand posts or so to catch up on, and a bunch more photos are coming too.

I got to spend 4 days in London a few years ago. I felt like I could have spent 4 weeks there easy.

I spent 5 months in England back in 2004 and I still occasionally have dreams where I'm back there. Then I wake up in Nebraska and I'm all frown.gif

Trying to wear something other than a blue oxford.  Probably still rather boring.  Thoughts?

Here's my first post in the thread. I'm not sure if this fits in better with the Men's Clothing or Streetwear and Denim style more. I'm wearing a tie just because, not because I needed to, necessarily. I enjoy wearing them, and they're quickly becoming a hobby of mine. I'm ordering a midnight blue grenadine from Sam Hober as well.

Also just was playing around with stuff in my wardrobe, would appreciate some feed back on this: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Honestly in this fit and your others you just look like random guy, there's nothing slightly remarkable, it isn't of the same caliber as most other WAYWTs.

- jacket looks like something you'd wear to walk your dog, there's random writing on the sleeve, it's shapeless and warping and has ugly white draw strings.
- graphic on tee is pretty juvenile
- i was going to say that pants aren't horrid until i noticed the distressing all the way down the front. they also flair and need to be hemmed. but you should just toss them.
- you're not wearing shoes
- shirt is looks like it's women's, i could keep going but it just isn't good.

My suggestion is to take a back seat and start all over from basics.

Hey man, this may come off as a little harsh, but the answer is neither.

I hate rules but sometimes we need to observe them a little as noobs, so:

1. Don't wear a tie without a jacket.

2. Khaki pants in that shade, with that belt, are awful.

3. That's a white business shirt. They generally only look good in a full on suit outfit, or else a super minimalist fashion fit.

4. When you've got a billowy shirt tucked in like that, with your build, it's very unflattering, and not in an interesting way either.

5. That tie is skinny, but also old fashioned in design. It's not a very good combination.

1. I stand corrected, but I don't think it could look all that bad. I think it can be a rakish, non-chalant look. Apparently, it doesn't look right for me.

2.  I was under the impression that, more or less, the belt must closely match the shade of the shoes. Granted, it's not the same exact shade of brown as the suede chukkas.

3 & 4.  It's supposed to be a slim fit dress shirt, too. I guess I've got an unusual build; my waist has a quite a bit of suppression, and I've got wide hips. I've been working out too. All my old dress shirts look worse than this, though, very baggy.

5.  I like the tie, and while I understand it's narrow and old fashioned (1960s, it belonged to my grandfather), I think the narrow style is cool. This is something that would look better with a suit than just a shirt, too.

I knew I was going to be knocked for that post, but I usually just wear slim polo shirts, chambray work shirts, and chinos (I need to get around to buying a new pair of jeans soon). I happen to like wearing ties and a suit too. I guess what I'm wearing in the picture is an awkward in between of causal and business attire that doesn't translate well.

Harsh but helpful. Thanks!

- I agree the jacket is bad.
- I disagree about the t-shirt. I think its a pretty cool design, the detail is lost in that fit pic.
- Agreed about the hem/flair issue. I don't think the distressing is a big minus.
- haha yes ok from now on all fit pics will have footwear
- Maybe its the material? I dont see it. But I will keep that in mind

I think what I will do is move to the noob thread and leave this to the pros smile.gif
