I had about everything I needed (though I could have used a helmet). Unfortunately I got caught in a storm close to the top while I was climbing the ledge of a glacier with my ice axe. With all that ice hitting me I didn't think it was a good idea to press on.

Xhale has to be getting close to most accounts ever registered on SF. Get a plaque ready for this man, mods.

It just looks like you're under dressed with only a sweater on, but I'm sure a nice jacket was packed in your backpack.

I love Washington btw, a beautiful state.

attempted to summit mt rainier this weekend, but ultimately had to toss in the towel shy of reaching the top. still a blast though.

Awesome, I was at Crystal today. We took the gondola up to the restaurant at 7k or so feet and tanked up on good food and beer out on the deck for about 3 hours. Incredible view of Mt. Rainier from about 10 miles away. Beautiful day.

Climbing Rainier is serious business and about 100x more difficult than most people understand. I am impressed that you gave it a shot.

Yikes, I miss the PNW. It's so dry out here! I thought about heading out this coming weekend for a reunion thing, but can't make it. I'll probably have to find the time this fall.

Crystal is great, I need to spend some time there this winter.

Rainier can be really challenging (I'm very out of shape tbh), but on my way up I actually saw quite a few hikers/skiers that made it to about 8500ft as a day thing. But the journey up the mountain after base camp is all business.

Yeah, pretty incredible to have something like Rainier in my own backyard. You guys have quite a few mountains I bet that would be fun to climb.

+1 on going with a small (I think we have similar waist sizes). They're pretty slim through the legs, but I usually use the drawstring at the waistband to make sure they stay where they're supposed to at the gym.
