SW&D clearly has it's group of "inner friends" who refer to eachothers by their username etc.

The rest is like "this guy" or "that guy". The tone isn't very welcoming.

I'm gonna stop bitching here cus I can see this turning into shit really fast.

You're just taking it the wrong way though.  When Lane or someone posts I usually just look at the avatar and know it's lane.  When you post (well, I know who you are, but at 200 posts many probably don't) people look at the avatar, think 'that dude with that avatar' and then when they want to use your name have to go back and check to see what it is.  Especially since it was a new page, I think Lane just didn't bother.  I don't think many people read usernames when browsing unless they need to.

We're having a conversation here. People here don't know each other unless they've met in real life, still you would never call one of the inner circle SF posters "that guy".

I thought you were the inner circle? Are you new here, and I'm confusing you with someone else? Anyway, does that term apply outside of DT? I'm not sure if disagreeing about hair is grounds for getting up in arms, especially when you see the normal treatment new posters get.

Speaking of which, it's really only a few posters who give people shit, it just happens to be memorable. In my experience, StyleForum is intensely polite, which is the way I like it.

It looks pretty much the same, I just have no control over it (and it's obviously floppier)

I think he could be referring to brad's "no don't listen to this guy" post, and in that case it's just brad, probably nothing personal

Just make at least a couple posts a day asking about the Mr Porter sale and you'll get right in.

Good answer. Sounds logical.

I've been here a couple of months but I'm still learning and I def don't see myself as an "approved" member (in  lack of better word). Your right about the rest. I overreacted and King Juliens post pretty much explains it all.

Love the pants, not sold on the tee. Bottom half is excellent, bag included.

conceptionist I see what you're saying but I don't think people have this inner circle just to be snobbish and keep newcomers out, its just that it takes a while to really notice new posters when there are a few personalities that everyone knows and who also post a lot. Also the older or more regular posters generally try more out-there looks and aggressive styling so those sorts of fits get more comments and discussion than safer or more conservative ones. I wouldn't expect a bunch of conversation on my blue-chambray-shirt-chinos-white-sneakers look while synth or shah or some others are posting more interesting fits for example.

At home with some sinus infection and bored, so I'm going through my closet. Trying to decide what might be useful to keep as I build up my wardrobe and what's trash (I bought a lot of clothes before I knew what I was doing so a lot is bad shit).

Stupid me didnt get a full picture of the whole outfit in one go.
