There is definitely a black specific "dandy" movement. SE is part of it, Brooklyn Circus also. I dont think either group would reject the identification with race.
That said, people do paint with a pretty broad brush when the skin color is similar. SE are way more urban inspired than Tirulleaur (sp?) with more industrial colors, thrift goods etc. Tirulaeur looks more like trad with a little twist mixed with some southern gent.

I agree with this. Most minorities that adopt western styles of clothing do try to differentiate themselves by highlighting their ethnicity. It's the same way with Asians that try to dress all sprezzy or all Americana woodsman.

What I think is problematic, like you stated is the wide brushstroke that is used to describe such styles due to skin color. If I had white skin in those same pictures chances are I wouldn't have been compared to Kissi. It's like people who don't listen to electronic music. They think House sounds the same as dubstep which sounds the same as drum 'n' bass which sounds the same as ambient which sounds the same as IDM which sounds the same as techno, etc.

I won't deny the fact that I have dandy tendencies, but they are mostly based on taking  little quirks than the full on pink ass suit.

if they were all white it's not like you would say white dandies

What do you mean "happen to be black"? Was his mom black? Was his dad black? Did they fuck? Then at what point does it become chance?

i dont even know what this means.

how do you differentiate yourselves to highlight ethnicities by wearing western style clothes?

y'all are on some weird trip. dandies be everywhere. black, white, asian (just friggin walk the streets of seoul). there's no black specific movement of dandies. there are simply dandies among black people. just like there are dandies among asian people or white people.

to show that there is a black dandy movement you would have to show a unique style of black dandy (clothes, not skin color) that does not exist anywhere or exists mostly within black dandies.

when i say happen to be black i mean he is simply a dandy and it just so happens (ie the following is not related to) that he is black. not that he is a member of some group called black dandies.

what i'm saying is there is no subculture among dandyism (whatever the fuck that is) that is black dandyism wherein there is some kind of stylistic choice that sets them apart from other races. if you try to differentiate only by color then your category is useless as i can create as many categories there are as there are ethnicities.

it's not like black guys are roaming around saying "Hello there, My name is Shabazz... and I'm a Black dandy" I think what I was getting at is that they do acknowledge that there is a dandy within the culture

We acknowledge taht Tiger Woods is a black golfer, but we don't expect him to walk around saying that.
