Teger,

Valid concern. To me, the blazer already feels like a bit of a juxtaposition in terms of the textured fabric and sharp cut, and I kinda like adding to that by wearing it like i would a moto jacket - something with similar structured shape but still rugged. I liked how this turned out but I understand why you might not.

I'm kind of ambivalent about the fit. I think both the body and sleeves of the jacket are too long, and there's too much pocket square showing.

Really like that ToG fit (non-tuck edition).

Sleeves might be a bit long, but the jacket itself isn't.

i think the shoulders are a bit too structured on the hendrix blazer to wear without a collared shirt.

parker, is that the uniqlo black linen blazer from this season?

Why does sharp tailoring demand a dress shirt? Is there an aesthetic reason, or is that just what you're used to? I thought this look had been done enough times on the runway that it would cease to look "weird" or "different," especially in SWD

edit: Simon Spurr, the dude who made Hendrix's jacket, even eschews "collared shirts" (is that like collard greens?) with his tailoring. I like the look, and I think most of the people who resist it do so because of normative social reasons, not aesthetic ones

I think hendrix could get away with a polo even though SW&D seems to have an intense dislike for polos.
blazer + polo will always remind me of the mid-50s german in an obvious toupee dining with a gorgeous 20 yr old cuban girl in havana last year. when he drunkenly started putting his hand down the girl's top during dessert my gf loudly proclaimed that she was going to be sick, and the guy staggered over wanting to fight me.

Structured shoulders not only imply a certain level of formality historically, they also require stronger lines below to balance them. Those lines are provided by a shirt collar and a vertical placket, which are missing on a v-neck. Even worse, the deep plunge of a v-neck contrasts even more with the padded and roped shoulders.
