Oddly enough, your pants are often too big and shoes too small.

Oh snap!

if i sized down to a 44 would it be too skinny and give me the horse riding effect? (as mentioned by a forumite)

I think the silhouette of these jeans work for you.

Hey everyone this is my first post, I'm really open to all critiques/criticisms and want to improve my style as I realize it is generic/bland/boring... Im a college student and for the past couple years I have basically only purchased clothing from J.Crew or Ralph Lauren stores but since I became aware of this site I have discovered a lot more brands that I like such as W+H, EG, Gitman Brothers Vintage, and others as well. Here is something I wore the other day basically the only new piece is from Epaulet which is their rivet chinos(I think they fit pretty awesome). The shirt is J.Crew, The jacket is Baracuta g9, On my feet are desert boots. Should I size up on the shirt? Im 6' about 150 and am wearing an xs jcrew chambray. Thanks and really hope to learn a lot from you guys.

Everything's really not bad, fit wise. The first pic especially. Assuming you have a free range of arm movement in that chambray XS, then definitely don't size up. It looks fine. The g9 does a look a little snug and cropped but it could be the photo. The ePauls fit well. 6' 150lbs is a nice build for having clothes fit nice off the rack. The look may be "generic/bland/boring" but I bet you look more put together than most on your campus. Like you've stated, venture outside of the comfort and familiarity and convenience of JCrew/RL etc and explore some of the other brands you're seeing. Separate yourself from the pack. Just study the threads to nail your size (which I think will mostly be all smalls, sans maybe some w+h this year) and from there it's just a matter of beatin college poosy off with a stick, i'd imagine..

keep lurking. read waywt. post your own fits for critique. Don't create threads. Post in the "should I buy?" thread for general advice (but dont take everything to heart) and find your niche. Again your proportions will lend itself well to a variety of makes and fits which is very fortunate for you.

Stay out of the JCrew thread as you don't want that as a negative influence. If you relapse and pick up that new s/s'11 ill fitting red gingham BD during a weekend 30% off sale, there is no salvation.

You'll have an urge to ditch your desert boots soon (and should) and pick up a pair of other leather shoes. Probably something made in Maine. And horween leather. So start on the Quoddy megathreak or oak street right now. Don't rush the yuketens...those will come in time.

good luck. keep posting. keep an open mind and open wallet
