Maybe it's just me, but when I see people on the street wearing those big cans on their heads I can't help but laugh a little. It just seems a bit unnecessary.
But at least they're decent headphones and not of the neon-colored skullcandy variety.
Ah man, you say that but when you listen to those puppies, it's like you've transcended to a new plane of existence. Well it was for me when I got my Sennheiser HD 25-1's (the original, not that SP shit). Now, an iMod filled with 320kbps mp3'd flac files , a pico amp and a pair of limited edition Beyerdynamic DT-770's later, I couldn't be happier when listening to my music. Don't mock it till you try it.
There's a world of difference. A good set of headphones is awesome, especially compared to shitty ipod ones. I don't use my Sennheiser HD280s anymore because I didn't bring them to Korea, but I'm tempted to buy another pair of big, closed headphones sooner or later. In summer it can suck, but in winter it's actually sort of practical.
sennheiser 25-1s for life. best headphones i've ever had, and relatively inconspicuous too.
25-1's aren't really that good. the portability of the can format and build quality is the only thing they have going for them. I'd rather use iems for the outdoors. Indoors there are much better options for the price.
