Pretty sure the tongues got a fair bit smaller in later versions (clothesmaking tends to be this way, you cna make the same thing over and over and call it the same thing, but technical things will change secretly in order to improve), the SS09 ones we have have tongues that won't decompress no matter what you do to them. I like the shoes but they just don't get much love in the rotation because the tongues only allow them super small hem denim; don't think I've worn mine in a couple months now.

those are 19cms and even when tucked perfectly I still feel like a smaller hem would look much cleaner. sometimes I just wear them with straight legs, untucked of course, but I probably wouldn't if I had a pair of lows I was into right now

looking at sqs pic the tongue does look significantly more streamlined. I assume the tongue was filled with more material in order to diminish the air pocket.
