The JCrew thread is alright though.

I love it. It's better to dress ****** than to wear nice clothes because "they're just going to go out of style." First of all, can you predict the future? Secondly, how boring would fashion be if it was ALWAYS THE SAME. If a "greatest outfit of all time, for everyone" existed, then there would be no artistry, there would be no learning, there would be no discussion, there would be NO FASHION.

Although I think most people can agree it is nice to justify an expensive purchase with "longevity," which is not unreasonable, I have to say that two years sure seems like a decent amount of time to me. Besides, Julius and Rick Owens are so far ahead of the curve that even after it's out of style for a little bit, it'll still make a statement. And a lot of Margiela stuff (such as leathers and GATs) are going to look damn good for a LONG time since they're just really nice **** that doesn't rely on a particular trend.

Nothing is fashionable forever, and people who try to be almost NEVER are.

there was a thread about tapered jeans from two years ago that got bumped recently, people saying they'd so be out in two years, but they still seem to be going strong now.

also, i've never really got all that 'timeless' talk, suiting has changed alot since the 50's. and quite a few fits over there will probably look quite silly in a while, such as all those pastel-colored pants.

another thing i've noticed, with all the 'rules' that are thrown about when someone posts a picture of a suit, it seems like most of them work in middle management and dont understand that some people want a suit for reasons other than doing businessy things (like aeglus' double breasted suit)

I guess I should have posted this in random fashion thoughts...

OMG are those Lanvins? I love that fit if they are... if not, decent fit but go w/some low tops. Def don't like the cuff over the sneakers, it looks like when two people are walking towards each other and neither knows whether to go left or right
