Just it case it wasn't obvious, I agree with this completely. Stan Smiths are not the best quality sneakers in the world, but they are iconic, and any number of fancy sneakers stitched with a Tibetan virgins pubes are based on it.

Just feel like there are a ton of sneaks out there that are essentially higher quality versions of the same thing with visibly better materials and generally positive tweaks to the styling, so why not just wear those and not have the kina crappy stuff taking up space in the closet.

Price is the obvious difference. Personally, I would never spend more than $80 on sneakers.

They Stan Smiths actually cost more than I paid for both my CPs and Margielas, since I paid retail. They're actually pretty nice quality, full leather version produced for the Japanese market. I need a pair of sneakers for rainy/muddy days when I don't feel like wearing boots
