I'm not a big fan of when you wear that coat with tan or brown trousers, because it's just too much... brown.  But I really like it with the off-white jeans, I really like the off-white jeans with those shoes because it's unexpected but still works, and I like the vest both stylistically and as a dark layer up top.  The blue shirt shirt works too and grounds it all, keeping it from seeming too forced.  I feel like you were most definitely inspired by some of the (always fantastic) merchandising you saw when you were at that fancy Ralph Lauren store last week....

that is good info. i tend to often wear a lot of the same color, or shades of a similar color. id say its because i like it, but it may also be for lack of imagination at times, or fear of pushing the envelope. worth keeping in mind.

i do almost always find good inspiration there. smile.gif

thanks, good stuff. ill probs bookmark your fit so remember the pants.

@Caveat, mind if I ask what shoes you're wearing with the rugs? Been looking for a pair of nice loafers/slip-ons that will go with a wide variety of outfits...

but also I really don't care what people on SF or the internets think nearly as much as IRL. So SF's reaction is not that important, has little to do with how good your outfit looks to most average folks, and thus pasteurization shouldn't worry too much about posting pics here because the feedback, while it can be good, may not correlate with his reality.
As a result of that, I think looks here that get a lot of thumbs and appreciation may not get the same kind of appreciation IRL, in fact maybe the opposite in some cases.

if someone gauges irl opinions > SF opinions, why bother getting feedback here at all?

i mean, its all different POVs in the end, and there is no right or wrong, but if someone cares more to look good in the eyes of most regular people who get fashion cues from the mall, magazines and celebrities (and that is all good and well), why bother here?

if someone is going to post a fit, get feedback, and say, well all the stuff you guys like looks dumb to most people and this here fit that ya'll dont like, most regular people love it, then really what is the point?

I could almost replicate that fit, item for item. Weird.

Not really digging the socks or shoes in that one though.

Part of dressing is to fit in. One can enjoy pushing the edge while knowing that one has to tone it down in most other places. Most of your fits don't fall into this category, but there are many places I wouldn't want to be dressed like some of the great posters here. And on some other occasions, I wish I could channel them as I'm getting dressed.

@Syeknom what don't you like about the boots? color? shape? i thought the bulbous toe went well with the wider fit of the trousers.

that is is fine and well, but it does not answer my question. why bother getting feedback if you intend to dismiss it because you think irl most people will like what you are wearing?

i mean, just post in the pics only thread and then jerk off or cry in silence based on how many thumbs you do or dont get. but no need to waste peoples time with feedback if you consider it to be valueless anyways.

+1 to sugar... though it shouldn't be surprising to attract more attention from the average "on the street" person.
I think that usually if you feel and look comfortable in what you're wearing...unless it's really outlandish or not suited to the situation at all (e.g. wearing a tux to a lunch appointment), there's nothing to worry about. A lot of whether I'm sartorially self-conscious or not comes down to the person I'm hanging out with too...ultimately everyone judges from their own idiosyncratic vantage point.

In terms of whether SF opinions are relevant vs. real life ones...lol of course they are...we are all just people.

Lol @ all the self deluding people continually posting the same excuses. C'mon now.

Loved that fit stiches. Ghost face you're going to win again -.-'' what everyone said. Also I think the cut of your trousers are always perfect. Reeeddoooo nice socks! Looks v c4est for some reason.

I agree with him about the boots. It's not the shape, but the texture/finish. They have a rough and ragged look that doesn't jive with the clean softness of the rest. And the contrasting color makes them stick out more. Some black derbies would be better IMO.

Haha yea, these aren't the most original items. I went with the sneaks for the competition, otherwise would have worn boots. Threw on ridic socks because what the hell, and also because I missed the last contest

Edit: I assume that was to me right...
