Yes, they are.  Really good boots.  The nap on the suede, among other things, is very nice.

I wasn't going to post this, but it's essentially what I wear every day, so...

Damnit. I want boots, but I'm not sure if I want ones like that, or a dressier pair.

Tell me whether you are more inclined to get

1) You would wear something/use something, regularly, or something that

2) is just so frickin' cool, you really want it.

Of course, it's usually a mixture of both, but tell me which way you are more inclined, and I will suggest something.

Emotionally I would go with 2, but practically speaking I am loath to buy anything that I know that I will not get good use out of. So I guess I am more inclined toward 1.

If I had enough money that I would never have to worry about anything, then I would more inclined towards 2. But that is not my reality at present.

Met up with a former coworker of mine who had just returned from her son's wedding in Tokyo. She brought me back some cheap whiskey and snacks:

Gotcha.

One model that I really like is the Alfred Sargent Cambridge, which is on a fairly sleek last, but has the heft that a boot should have.  I personally love a grain on my boots, like these:

But I really like suede as well.  @gdl203 carries a pair.  Here, lemme find them:

If you are looking for something a little taller, I am also a fan of these boots by Carmina, with the contrasting grain and the brogued captoe:

There are tons of other options, like the Edward Green Galway, but I sorta feel that these are really good for winter, in particular, with the dainite soles, and are less precious than a lot of the Edward Green and G&G boots.
