I think I posted a while back on one of the threads how I saw an Orthodox Jew in Florence a year ago wearing possibly the coolest outfit I have ever seen in my life- slim fitting wool coat that went to his ankles, black derbies or slick ankle boots (don't remember), awesome Lennon-style glasses and a flat wide brimmed black hat. So so awesome

Have you ever been to brooklyn?

You just described like most Chassidic Jews. Granted, most of them do not look stylin, but that pretty much the outfit. Unless I am missing something here.

I mean it looked like he stepped out of a Yohji/Doma/Ann D lookbook, it was perfect

Shit, maybe I've just seen very few Orthodox Jews in my life....

Now you know !

Also, that garb is not worn by all Orthodox Jews. It is specific to Chassic (Hassidic) Orthodox jews. Non-Chassic, Orthodox jews do not wear that get up.

Damn, somebody find out where those guys are shopping, cause you know, even while looking very steezy, they're not dropping yohji-level dollars on that gear.

Also, Dave Berg covered this exact phenomenon in a Mad Magazine cartoon circa the 80's. Wish I could find it.

Not sure if intentional, but I see what you did there.

My entry for the traditional garb fit battle.

noob - standard full garb like pictured in my post would be like 250-400 or so.

Lots of polyester tho.
