Well I'm going to give this a lukewarm thumbs down. When have a bunch of quirky items with interesting details, you can't just throw them together in a generic way and expect it to become a value-added outfit. The entire thing needs a greater variety of texture; the overabundance of sheeny techy fabrics somehow strikes me as vaguely unpleasant. The black pants are way too stark for everything else, especially the sneakers. The fully buttoned-up three-button jacket creates a big block of beige that has no visual flow with the shirt or pants, and begs for sturdier footwear than the low-profile sneakers. The club collar bib shirt somehow got invited to the party but is just sulking to himself in the corner.

I mean it's not horrible, but for the amount of $$$ you couldv'e put together something much better. The combination is a little tonedeaf. Those little interesting details so prized by members this forum aren't really wortha whole lot inandof themselves. You need to take these articles of clothes and surround them with the right kind of friends to create a dynamic, more-than-the-sum-of-its-parts combination. The clothes so desparately want to be a part of such an outfit. It is their life's dream! And they're trying to tell you how to do it-- you just have to have the ears to listen.

Holy **** this is a fantastic analysis, descriptive and well written. +1!

(P.S: I guess there's a positive side to being tagut?)

Just quoted this because that jacket is ******* sick.

Also SQ, i'm not really sure what Tagutcow is saying but the black pants kinda killed that fit for me. Everything else was great, even if i'm not a big fan of the shirt details.

Yes, that is what I meant in both cases. Overly similar in texture, jarringly dissimilar in color. I think that, say, your Jil face-shirt fit was better because the more closely matched values allowed the eye to "drink in" the tonal/chromatic differences better.
what sort of "sturdy" shoes are you suggesting? did you mean to say leather shoes?
By sturdy I meant substantial. The big blocky jacket calls for big blocky boots. Three-button jackets aren't usually my cup of tea in any case, but I think they work best with military associations. Yours even has epaulets for heaven's sake! The low-profile sneakers just seem mismatched.
the shoes are suede with satin captoe, the pants and shirt are cotton and the jacket is polyester/grosgrain. the colors basically boil down to taupe/khaki, black and white.
That's part of my problem too. With all the eccentricity of the pieces, I think you should have gone more rockstar with the color pallette.
i'm guessing you also think these are bad? lanvin are masters of tech sheen. that's kind of the point
No, it's not quite my cup of tea, honestly. There's a purely sensual aspect to clothes, a desire just to reach out and feel, and that clothing doesn't have that effect on me. But I'm not going to pretend it's something that can be debated productively or rationally. You'll notice all those pants have high-water cuffs. Perhaps that's something else to consider. For some reason, the pants/shoes junction in your outfit just really rubbed me the wrong way.
