Weight Loss Progress

A while back I posted some current photos of myself to help determine my ideal weight. I thought it might be 195 but that turned out (way) wrong. Anyways, I wanted to post my progress pics to help keep me on track. I'm going to post some more come May. I started my diet in mid August at a weight of 245 and didn't take a before photo then. The before photo shown is me at 217. The current photo was taken a couple of days ago when I weighed 197. I recently had my body composition taken in one of those BodPod machines and it wasn't as good as I hoped. My body comp is: Height: 6'2" Weight: 198 Body Fat %: 26% Fat Mass: 51 lbs. Fat Free Mass: 147 lbs. I was a little surprised that I had so little Fat Free Mass. I thought I would be more in the 160 lb. range for that. I'm told these tests are pretty accurate though. Based on these numbers I set my goals for May as follows. My goals for the end of May are: Weight: 165 Body Fat %: 10% Fat Mass: 15 lbs. Fat Free Mass: 150 lbs. Anyways, thanks to everybody who offered encouragement and helpful advice in my first post. Hopefully by May I will have reached my weight loss goals and can transition into trying to put on some muscle mass over the summer.

You're doing great! Reverse the order of the pics and that's me over the past 3 months.

Good job on the weight loss. But that doesn't look like 10% bf. Most people at 10% look pretty cut.

He didn't say he was at 10%. He said that his goal by May is 10%.

Ah, my apologies.

Good luck on your goal, 10% will look very good if you keep your lean mass.

Why not add some muscle mass now (for the next month or so) and then cut until summer? Muscle mass burns more calories at rest, so you'll be able to cut faster. Not to mention that you'll have a little more muscle mass for beach season...

Because the cutting will take time, and to gain muscle, one must gain fat. (At least the average, non-elite trainer helped must)

I'll have to do that, I have never heard of it before.

Congrats on the weight loss.

can I ask what you have been doing to loose the weight? I'm in almost the exact boat you were. I'm at about 245lbs and want to get down around 200lbs.
