Denim: Vanity Sizing

Thread Starter
It seems like very few pairs of jeans these days are sized true in the waist when you buy them. Vanity sizing is rampant. The only jeans I've bought recently that seemed TTS were my Nudie Average Joes.

I don't ever remember this being the case back in the day. 22 years go I was wearing Levi's 501 and 505 in size 32. Now today, (I'm almost 38) I can wear Levi's in 34 waist and I'm 40-45 lbs more than I was in high school. (Damn, I gotta drop 10-15 lbs)

Any reason why manufacturers are doing this, besides the fat American factor?

http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=55144 This has been covered before at great length. TTS depends on manufactures and models. Longer rise jeans tend to be TTS because they sit higher on your hips than lower on your waist; low-rise jeans go +1 or more from tagged size because they're meant to fit that way. Ideally, you'd want to be able to buy the same tagged size and have it fit you regardless of model.

http://blueingreensoho.com/site/inde...tent&task=view Using this method: My BR pants tagged 32W are really 34 (17*2). My Gap jeans tagged 33W are really 36 (18*2)
