Naked & Famous: Elephant 2 Skinny Guy 22oz Selvedge


The Weird Guy Elephant 2 was released some time ago and the Skinny Guy was a little late in production, but it is finally here and it was worth the wait. Last fall the Elephant fabric was a big hit. This season Elephant 2 is slightly heavier at 22oz in a deep indigo color. Weird Guy and Skinny Guy Elephant 2 are now both in stock.

Naked & Famous: Naked and Famous "Slow Vintage" Slim Hoodies


Their back! Naked & Famous "slow vintage" hoodies were extremely popular last fall/winter and it has been a long time waiting for the newest production which is finally here! Naked & Famous "slow vintage" hoodies are made with loopwheeled fabric produced on vintage tsuri circular knitting machines (loopwheel machines) from the late 1800's. These machines work very slowly and are labor intensive, but as a result produce the softest cotton fabrics. The loopwheeled fabric is made by the artisans in Wakayama, Japan and then shipped to Canada where Naked & Famous sew the fabrics into their slim hoodies. This shipment we received only charcoal. Red, navy, and gray are available as well and can be special ordered.

Any update on your expected The West is Dead shipment?

Arrived a couple days ago. We are figuring out pricing now and getting a few more details on the fabrics, construction, and factories before posting. Chino colors are great and fit is spot on!

The West is Dead: "Herringbone 3-End French Terry" Classic Crew Neck Sweatshirt

Our first shipment from The West is Dead has arrived. When we first viewed The West is Dead's fall/winter 2011 collection, we were initially attracted to the label because of their choices of colors and their slim modern fits with an obvious influence of vintage goods. When we looked closer at the collection we realized that one of their many strengths were their basics because of their emphasis of using custom made fabrics and their solid construction. Here is The West is Dead's take on the classic crew neck sweatshirt.


This is the West is Dead's take on the classic crew neck sweatshirt. The fabric is a 3-end French terry, heavy slub-back fabric in a herringbone weave. Its woven on vintage looms in South Carolina, in a district that is famous for producing authentic true-vintage knits. The entire piece is sewn using flat-lock stitching so its fully reversible and with each side you get a completely different look and feel. Here is where the fabric shows its versatility: the face is a flat textured, 50/50 cotton-poly blend, so it takes the dye in a unique heathered pattern. The back slub side is 100 percent cotton and has a beautiful slubby texture, after a few washes the herringbone weave begins to emerge and gives the sweatshirt an interesting hand and a comfortable worn look. A few inches to the overall length have been added to avoid boxiness and finished it off with double Vs in the front and back collar.

very gimmicky.. I like it. Do you have anything to say about fabric durability and warmth?

Gimmicky? I assume you mean the name of the label. I don't know if care for the name, but I am pretty stoked on the clothing. They seem to really put an emphasis on fabrics and construction and I was told that the owners are present in factory to oversee production.

The crew above ---- durability should not be questioned. It will be a piece you would wear for years and it will hold up. The sewing is very well done and the fabric is nice. It will not be a super warm piece, just a good solid basic that is easy to layer and coordinate. It is good for the price. I am getting a couple for myself.

As for sizing, since this is a new label for us we were unsure about szing on the tops and did not order XL. We determined that we will need XL and just ordered them for the next shipment which we should have end of this coming week.

The yellow-ish hue on the first two pictures due to the lighting right?

I would probably only wear it with the slubby surface showing. Yes, the yellowish hue is the lighting. It is very hard to capture white colors in photo at times. The first close up shot above is the most accurate. It is mostly a white color, slightly off-white.

The West is Dead's take on the classic chino uses a 10oz cotton duck canvas which goes through 3 completely different wash processes to add weight and soften the hand. The fabric is lightweight enough for everyday wear and the nature of duck twill gives it the perfect amount of structure. The fit is designed with comfort in mind to allow for additional room in the lower hip giving the extra fabric needed to keep your pants from riding up when you're walking, bending or leaning, but they won’t sag when you're standing tall. The fit is truly slim as they taper from the thigh down to a narrow leg opening. Bottom line: these are comfortable pants fit for any occasion.
