Jay, BOM008 only skinny and tapered?

based from my 0400SP, from blueowl too, I can't wear tapered anymore.. :(    thigh vs waist.

without upsizing, the thigh is tight now but the waist has expanded a lot. missed so much of blueowl's collab with momo.

Only skinny and tapered will be available. We use these fits on our collaborations because they are fits not offered in Momotaro's standard collection, and have a really high demand in the states. On another note, our new chino collaboration with Japan Blue is now available!

The Japan Blue x Blue Owl 12oz "Hanpu" Tapered Selvedge Chino is now available online! For those of you that aren't aware, this fabric chino is an amazing mix of Japanese history and modern design. During the 1700's the fabric was used as sails for ships, as bags for workers and children, as canvas for art, and mawashi for sumo wrestlers. The fabric used on our collaboration chino is a lighter weight version of this historical fabric!<<br /> 1314275
Japan Blue x Blue Owl 12oz "Hanpu" Tapered Selvedge Chino - Model JBO-400. 100% cotton, made in Japan. Sizes 28-34, 36, 38. $200. For more information, click here.
1314276
Custom branded cowhide patch with a Japan Blue Owl collaboration design.
1314277
The fabric we have created with Japan Blue uses a light 12oz Hanpu from a blend of USA and Australian cottons. The fabric's dye has been sulphur stabilized, meaning that it will age very gradually without any bleeding. Our friends at Rampuya likened the fabric to gold rush worker's wear, saying that it will gradually become softer with very nice fading.
1314278
All standard Japan Blue details are included in the chino, such as hidden pocket selvedge.
1314279
Custom branded doughnut buttons used on the whole fly.
1314280
The chino uses Japan Blue's signature blue inseam, and a very subtle and clean red selvedge.

Eternal's Spring/Summer 2014 collection is here just in time for the warm weather! We've received two new pieces from them, a relaxed cotton/linen short and a linen patchwork shirt. Both are amazing for hotter weather with their light weight and comfortable fits.

1316653

Eternal Relaxed Cotton/Linen Shorts in Orange. 88% cotton, 12% linen, made in Japan. Sizes M-XL. $88. For more information, click here.

1316654

Eternal Relaxed Cotton/Linen Shorts in White. 88% cotton, 12% linen, made in Japan. Sizes M-XL. $88. For more information, click here.

1316655

Eternal Relaxed Cotton/Linen Shorts in Red. 88% cotton, 12% linen, made in Japan. Sizes M-XL. $88. For more information, click here.

1316656

The surface of the fabric has a very interesting texture, and is very soft

1316657

The weft is even softer than the surface! The light weight of this fabric will make it incredibly comfortable in any heat.

1316658

The short uses an elastic waist band, single button fastener, and a zip fly. Be sure to check the online store for sizing advice.

1316659

The back pocket of the jean sports a small eternal logo.

1316660

Eternal "Chambray x Hakeme" Linen Button Down. 100% linen, made in Japan. Sizes M-XL. $200. For more information, click here.

1316661

The shirt features a lined yoke, which adds comfort and durability.

1316662

The button down has a slim, modern fit, with a single inlaid front pocket.

Here you can see the two different fabrics close up. Both are 100% linen and extremely light weight. The shirt is also very breathable, we see it as the perfect vacation shirt.

Dropped by today and the folks there were very helpful and even talked some hoop with me. Definitely made a new fan today.

Jay, do the new Japan Blue x Blue Owl Hanpu smell like sulfur? Love my Rogue Territory Stealth Stantons, but got to admit, the sulfur smell is kinda gross.

The dye is only sulphur stabilized, it has no sulphur smell. It has a slight earthy tone, but only when you really try to smell it.

Hmm are the measurements listed on the website for the railcar spikes x012 correct? I know there will be slight variations but the rise and knee are bigger while the waist and thigh measurements are smaller than what railcar has listed on their own website for size 30. Thanks!

railcar website:

30 16 9.5 11 7.75 7 35

blue owl:

30 31" 9.75" 10.7" 8" 7" 35.5"

Jay, what is your thought on APC and N&F. I've worn APC for years and wanted to switch to something new. I dont know much about N&F Skinny Guy in term of construction, materials, fit, etc compare to APC Petite Standard.

Our measurements accurately reflect our inventory. We measure every piece ourselves and posted the average measurements. With railcar those are %100 correct.

Jay: Will there ever be a re-stock of the N&F Okayama Spirit?

Cool, I've given up on close up pant sniffing so these should be perfect!

Hey Jay, if I'm 6'3"/175, pretty much a true 32" waist (typically wear tagged 31 in most denim) would you recommend the M or the L in these? I'm pretty tall/lean, but I do have muscular thighs.

Thanks!

APC's quality has gone down a lot in the past four or five years. All their production is in China now and while I believe their selvedge is still Japanese, the cotton used leaves something to be desired. N&F is great quality for the price point. Made in Canada, uses all Japanese fabrics, and they've been improving every season. The Skinny Guy fit will be tighter in the thigh and looser in the leg opening when put side-by-side with the same waist size of Petite Standard. The Weird Guy is actually the more equivalent fit, with a bit more room in the thighs and a healthy taper.

Unfortunately, they're out of fabric and there are no plans to make it again. The Japan Heritage 2 from N&F and the Japan Blue Monster Selvedge are both pretty similar to it though.

You could do either. One of my guys has a similar build and went with the Medium for a slimmer look, if you want it more relaxed get the Large.

Brand new belts have arrived too!
1322364

Our friend Dustin from over the mountains has finished up his first belt for us, and we're seriously impressed with the craftsmanship. All three belts use premium leather from the Horween tannery in Chicago, and are made entirely by hand, exclusively for Blue Owl. The attention to detail is what really sets these belts apart.

1322365

Vermilyea Pelle "Wenatchee Belt" in Chromexcel Black. 100% Horween tanned leather, made in USA. Sizes 30-38. $85. For more information, click here.

1322366

Vermilyea Pelle "Wenatchee Belt" in Color 8 Illini Latigo. 100% Horween tanned leather, made in USA. Sizes 30-38. $85. For more information, click here.

1322367

Vermilyea Pelle "Wenatchee Belt" in Natural Vegetable Tanned Horse Hide. 100% Horween tanned leather, made in USA. Sizes 30-38. $85. For more information, click here.

1322368

Each belt uses different style of leather. The natural belt is a vegetable tanned horse hide, something we've never seen on a belt before. The unique character of each hide makes every belt different. The leather is stiff and rigid, but will break in beautifully as it is worn. The black uses the Horween staple, Chromexcel, which is widely known as an extremely comfortable and durable leather. The Latigo uses Horween's Color #8 Illini Latigo, which has a hot stuffed blend of natural oils and waxes to create a leather that breaks in quickly and creates a unique patina.

1322369

Dustin punches 7 holes in his belts to make sizing easier, and has a clean angular end design. He bevels the edges to a smooth finish, and wax burnishes them to a nice sheen. Every cut Dustin makes is precise to the dot: we didn't find even a fourth inch difference between belts of the same size.

1322370

All belts use a single piece matte nickel plated solid brass buckle. Dustin's rivets are a black oxide brass from Belgium, which are reverse set. The open side of the rivets is hidden by the other end of the belt when worn, and the smooth side of the rivets faces the denim, preventing any possible damage to your jeans.

Another size question on the eternal shorts. I have a 35" true waist.  You think a Large would be pushing it Jay?  Better to go with a XLarge?

Because the waistband is elastic you could probably do Large if you wanted. I'd go off thigh measurements if I was you.

Here some details on our newest Momotaro collab:
1324390

Our second jacket collaboration with Momotaro has just entered production, and its heavier than any jacket they've ever sewn. The new BOM009 uses the same deep indigo dye as the BOM007, but at a burly 18oz weight, with a unique grey weft that Momotaro has never used before. The new collab uses all the same details from the BOM007, which you can check out below.

1324391

We predict that the grey weft will create deep fades that look almost like a black denim. The patch uses the clean and simple collaboration logo, which we preferred for a hidden detail like this.

1324392

The construction, like on all Momotaro, is top notch. The jacket uses tonal deep indigo stitching throughout, with the contrast pink on the under side of the front placket. No pink will show when the jacket is buttoned up, but the hidden details come out when anyone looks closer.

1324393

The pockets use a new lightweight chambray lining, but the Momotaro tab, pink stitching, and custom branded buttons are still there.

1324394

Pink selvedge runs up the entire length of the jacket on both sides of the placket.

1324396

The jacket uses 100% Zimbabwe cotton, making it very soft despite the stiff and heavy nature of the fabric.

1324397

All aspects of the Type 2 design remain on the new collaboration, including these slimming tabs at the back. We love the classic look of Momotaro's jacket, and didn't want to change a thing about it. The new jacket is a limited production of only 30 pairs, and should arrive in Seattle in September!
