- Japan Blue JB0401
- Eternal 883
- 3sixteen SL-100x
The JBs and 3sixteens seem to have a cleaner look that makes them dressier. The Eternals look slubbier and more vintage.
Anyone have input or experience with any of the above?
I ended up deciding on the Eternal 883 (altho they were the most expensive), mostly because they were more different than what I have now. But the JB's and the 3sixteens are still on my list because of your endorsements.
I have a pair of the Baldwin Reed rinsed tobacco jeans and love them. I looked at the measurements of the Baldwin indigo denim and none of them seemed like they would fit like I wanted --- too skinny.
I am also intrigued by this collab and it might be my next buy.
The indigo bleeding reminds me of Nudie. Mine is in rotation with a few other pairs, so fading is going to be extremely slow.
Received my Eternal 883s yesterday. Beautiful slubby, uneven texture gives it great character. Fit is good. There's one thing that bothers me but I learned something from this experience.
The left leg twists around such that the selvedge seam is almost at the front, laying on top of the laces of my boots. Since I cuff them, the white selvedge looks quite odd at the front of my leg. I checked with Jay and I learned that this twisting is often to be expected with unsanforized denim. All of my "higher-end" denim is sanforized so I had not experienced this before. I think I remember someone posting way back when that they actually liked the twisting. I personally don't, but I had them hemmed otherwise I would have returned them and asked Jay to see if he could find another pair without the twisting.
I'm working on my 702s now so they will sit in my closet for awhile. I'll probably wash them in the fall to get the rest of the shrinkage out (they are one-wash unsanforized) and then have them hemmed further so I don't have to cuff them. A learning experience...
