Hey Jay,

I've noticed that a few of your collabs feature low-tension weave.  What are the features you like about it that made you decide to put it your Japan Blue and N&F collabs?

It is more vintage type weave, has more character. More texture.

^I also feel like it stretches more.

Yes, loose tension weaves have more give, but you will not necessarily get more stretch. The type of cotton also plays a factor. Depends upon the denim basically.

Jay, I remember you sized down on your 003s (I think)  Have you soaked them or washed them at all yet?  Any worry they will shrink too much?

Baldiwn Denim: Introducing "The Samuel"

Introducing "The Samuel"! The "Samuel" is Badwin's modified slim straight and made for the person who likes the Reed, but wants a slight higher rise with a clean modern fit. It has a medium rise, runs slim in the thigh, and tapers slightly through the leg. This denim is also part of Baldwin's "Classic Series" which is a new program as of the spring summer 2013 collection. The "Classic Series" represents the best of the Baldwin line up showcasing heavier and rare fabrics and enhanced construction details like hidden back pocket rivets, selvedge belt loops and fly placket, and other reinforced construction techniques.

Baldwin Denim "The Samuel" 15oz Kurabo Selvedge Denim in Indigo
* Some other identifying features of Baldwin denim include the single exposed back pocket rivet, a triple stitched reinforced yoke, chain stitching throughout, hidden selvedge details, and a 4oz Missouri steerhide leather patch.
* 15oz sanforized Kurabo red lined selvedge.
* 5 pocket, button fly closure
* Custom engraved hardware with Baldwin logos
* Hidden selvedge coin pocket detail
* Deep back pockets
* 3/16" thick natural leather patch from steer raised in Missouri
* 100% cotton
* Dark Indigo
* Made in USA

No soaks, no washes, 6 months of wear. I did size down, could not button the top two buttons brand new, took 2 weeks to stretch it out in order to button all the way.

That new Baldwin cut looks tempting.

Hey Jay,

Sorry to go back to this but:

"Looking at the BOM004, which is tapered, the measurements are more generous then almost any of the slim fits. Thus as I safe in assuming that in brands that say "slim" will not fit me (ex. I only see Tellason in slim)?

The BOM004 is also silk, so maybe is not as strechy as a normal denim and I would be fine with something tighter because it would give more. That is why I asked in reference to this denim."

To get the same size as the BOM004s in the Baldwins you just posted I'd need to size up to a 31, which has a 34" waist (I have a 31"). Does this make it impractical for me?

You are a BOM004 29 which measures 31". You should be a 30 in the Baldwin Samuel, but the thigh will be tighter. The thigh will stretch about .5" after a couple weeks of wear. You will need to study the measurements and see if you can go that tight.

So the BOM004 is the maximum tightness I can take in t he thigh. Does it stretch less due to the silk?
