probably a stupid question, but since the fabric is chinos does that mean stretching will be minimal? Or do you recommend sizing down just like with raw denim?

It is more an issue as to how much you wear it. If you wear daily for 6 months, then try to size down. If you wear occasionally then you are looking for a comfortable fit. If you only wear occasionally it will not have as much opportunity to stretch.

Baldwin Denim: "Reed" 16oz Kurabo Selvedge

Our newest denim from Baldwin is the Reed 16oz Kurabo selvedge denim which is part of the Baldwin "Classic Line". The "Classic Line" is a program representing the best of the Baldwin denim line up and features heavier weight fabrics, classic fits, and enhanced construction details as well as a few additional details not seen on other Baldwin denims. Some of these details include selvedge button fly, selvedge along the the back right belt look, and hidden back pocket rivets.

Baldwin Denim "The Reed" 16oz Kurabo Selvedge Denim in Indigo
* The "Reed" is Badwin's classic slim straight leg fit that is tailored in the right places and will work for basically anyone. It has a medium to low rise, slim in the thigh, has a slight taper yet remains pretty straight from the knee to the leg opening. It is a classic fit that has a great silhouette.
* The fabric is made with a 16oz high slub selvedge denim woven in Okayama, Japan which has been sanforized, skewed, and singed. Though the fabrics has been singed, it is still not heavily processed and the surface will have a hairiness and soft hand. The color is very uniform in deep indigo which will fade extremely well.
* 5 pocket, button fly closure
* Custom engraved hardware with Baldwin logos
* Deep back pockets
* 3/16" thick natural leather patch from steer raised in Missouri
* 100% cotton
* Made in USA

Help me understand sizing for these new 16oz Baldwin jeans. They're sanforized, so they won't shrink much, yet the tagged size 32 measures out to a 35" waist? I'm a 32 waist, so I take a 32 in, say, all of Epaulet's trousers and chinos, and a 30 in APC NS. What's my Baldwin Reed size?

I don't understand why those Baldwins are so big. a size 28 has almost a 32" waist ????

Most likely 29, but the fabric is quite rigid and will not stretch muc so you could do a 30. I recommend measuring a denim that fits you well and compare to our posted measurements and worry more about the thigh and rise than the waist line when choosing.

I am not sure, but that is how they measure. We have only stocked Baldwin a short time and the details and construction is very consistent, but the sizing is difficult to nail down. The ducks for instance are only 1.5" larger than tag and these measure 3" or greater. All I can say is go by the measurements and if you need sizing advice after you research a bit, then e-mail me and we can try to figure it out together.

Is the chain stitch hemming charge $25 per pair of denim?
EDIT: Never mind, I just read that hemming services are free with all denim purchases from BlueOwl. Thanks!

look at the rise, it makes sense.

i could go TTS or down 1 and theyd fit because the rise is so low

* Size 29 (32.5" waist, 9" rise, 11" thigh, 7.9" knee, 36.5" inseam, 7.15" leg opening)
* Size 30 (33" waist, 9.25" rise, 11.25" thigh, 8.15" knee, 36.5" inseam, 7.4" leg opening)

unless you dont have hips or an ass then i guess thatll be a problem

post #1226 of 2442

Well TooAwsome...I'm 5'6 120 with NO ass so that'd be a problem :)   I mean a 32 would be the max I could get to let it sit on my hips with a belt but then if they stretch a little I wouldn't be happy.

I'm not planning on getting jeans any time soon but always looking for that next pair ya know! Guess when it comes time BlueOwl carries other brands that I'd get so I could always try them and exchange them

Hey Jay, I'm looking for a pair of jeans that fits like a JB0101 with a larger thigh and a higher rise (a mid/mid-low?) that also has a hairy/slubby texture to it. Do you have any recommendations or am I just doomed in this endeavor?

(For reference, I wear a 29 in WG and SL-100x, 30 JB0101 => I have a TTS 30 waist but need at least an 11.25" thigh...)

fit wise you could try looking at JB0401 but its not slubby

slubby and the fit you could look at the paulrose products (but the rise is low)
