The Armory Show

I'm thinking of going to the Armory Show in March. I'm a small timer who cannot spend more than $5K on a piece of artwork. Is the show worth my time, or will almost everything be way out of my price range? Am I better off going to one of the smaller satellite shows like Pulse or Scope instead?

I find these shows most useful to find artists that I like. If you already know what you want, you can go directly to artists representative. You can buy admission to multiple shows. I'm not sure if there is a direct correlation with cost and where the show is being held. At Art Basel Miami I found prints I was interested in at $8k and something around $40k at Scope NYC. Of course, I did inquire about a Kandinsky watercolor at Art Basel which was priced at $980k. My understanding is that the smaller shows tend to be cheaper, but not always the case.
