Rubber half sole replacement on my Cortlands which have an existing rubber halfsole from the factory.

Is it possible to remove the standard half sole and resew in a new one? My shoe guy put a glued on one over it, which is not what I wanted as I really like a thin sole.

He did something like this (additional stacked forefoot sole):

wanted this (no stack in the forefoot):

To get what you are after is possible, but you need a whole resole with a leather midsole and rubber outsole, which is quite a bit more expensive than just applying a new halfsole (which is typically glued on as you received). You'll probably be in the $100-$125 range for a whole resole. If you want that, take some pictures in, and explain that you want a resole with a rubber outsole, with a single midsole, not just a replacement half-sole.

Anybody know if it's possible to remove the black mark from these Wolverines? And if I can, how so?

Dab it gently with some rubbing alcohol on a cloth. Wait. Blow on it. See if that works.

I would just clean them and protect them

Better yet, just wear them. You're not going to get rid of that mark completely. That stain will mean nothing shortly. Each pair of these gets FUCKED in one way or another in a few months of wear.

No one is going to notice except you, and if you do notice, stop staring at your shoes

This ^ Once you throw some boot oil and LP on them, that dark spot won't be noticeable. Especially after you've worn them for a couple of months...

FYI: My boots also came with a blemish (I posted pics a while back) so I feel your pain. After treating/wearing them, I really have to look hard to see it.

I have the wolverine Rockford cap toe boot and am wondering if the Krause cap toe boot fits the same or is a half to full size different?

Anyone have experience with both boots and can shed some light?

They fit exactly the same. I have both and they're on the same last.

Finally pulled the trigger on a set - and they are great. Half size down for me. Went from 9 to 8.5. No complaints.
