Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot Review

Hello friends, I was wondering if this piece of thread hanging off the back of my 1000 Miles looks like it may pose a problem. I can't tell if it is stitching that has come undone or if it is leftover thread that wasn't snipped. I bought them used (vibram half soles already applied - $200 great deal) and the piece of thread was already hanging there when I got them.

Off subject, But I jjust purchased a new pair of the tan 1000 Wolverines off eBay for a seemingly good deal only to have the seller state I'm a difficult buyer and to stay away moments after me making a purchase - I bought them and used PayPal right away. What hassle is there in that? Moral is I guess I'm growing leery of online vendors that don't have a history and may as well purchase full price from now on from reputable dealers.

Did you make any special or unusual requests? If not, yes, this seems like a bad experience. If you did--- what?

Buying online can be a smart move but (as with brick and mortar stores) reputation/feedback is important.

You'll seldom have any trouble just buying an item online --- just make sure you see plenty of pictures of the item, know what you're getting, and buy from a vendor with good feedback (i.e., hundreds or thousands). If you have special requests, always email in advance of making a purchase (or bidding), and don't be offended if they can't or won't accommodate... just best to move on in that case.

That thread shouldn't be an issue. Burn it down and wear the boots.

Another sizing question: is the consensus to size down a half or full size? I have no similar boots for comparison, but I wear an 8.5D in AE Park Avenues, a 7.5E in C&J 337 last, and an 8.5 in most American running shoe styles. Unfortunately, tougher to try on in person up in Canada...

There's a limited amount of models on gilt.com this morning if anyone's interested.

I'm 12E in AE, took a 12 in these boots. Wearing thicker socks in the 1000 miles.

Here are my Rusts from Crane's after about a week and a half. This was taken indoors next to a huge open window. Still relatively new but the soles are forming to my feet and the color is seriously beautiful in person.







Like I've mentioned above, a liberal application of Lexol conditioner, two liberal coats of Obenauf's LP and good amount of brushing. They leather still had a bit of tackiness and stickiness from the LP that's just now wearing off. I brush them regularly after wearing them minus the past two days and use shoe trees every night.

First day wearing them I got a little nick in the leather which you can kind of see on my left toe box. That was a bummer but then after wearing them the next day, I realized, they're boots damnit, they're not going to stay perfect. You'll also notice the significantly darker spot on the inside of the left toe box. Don't know where that's from, but regardless, I like it. And I don't know if you can tell from the pictures, but the inside of the right boot has some very faint lightened stripes in the leather. I'm just assuming that's tied to the leather used on that boot. Not a big deal to me, but may bother some of you guys.

The ONLY thing that is a little annoying is the right boot's lace hole alignment. You can see that the right side of the laces is just slightly lower than the left side. Traditionally, I feel like they should line up evenly or the outside should be just slightly higher than the inside. This makes the top a little uneven, but no one ever sees it and it doesn't really affect how they feel on my feet and ankles. More of just a cosmetic thing at this point when I look down.

Like I said, these would really bother me if I got dress shoes/boots. But my goal is to get some great, worn in, beat to **** boots I can wear for the rest of my life. Bring on the battlescars.

Thankfully - and I was just told this- it was an error on behalf of the seller's automatic feedback system he/she has set up, and nothing to do with product itself.

Just to add to the ongoing sizing confusion, I'm the same size in AE as herrmj but my 1k boots are 11.5 and fit great. The difference is our sock choice; I wear my 1k's with a thin dress sock or a mid weight merino wool sock, nothing heavy.

I also recently bought from Crane and boy let me tell ya they were AWESOME!!! I called and ask the price and (what a great price it was) and they ordered it from Wolverine (since my size was not in stock) and they then shipped it to me after they inspected it and man let me tell ya it smooth as butta!!!

I have a pair of new tan Addisons in size 7 for sale in the buy-sell section!
