With size 8.5 the instep feels snug, but still comfortable, but with size 8 it hurt just a little. Will this loosen up? If so, how much? Should I go for 8 or for 8.5?

These are not jeans. You do not buy tight footwear period. It's bad for the shoe and it's bad for your feet. If you don't believe me go for a 4 or 5 mile walk in the city. Better yet go for a short hike in rough terrain. Guys can be pretty bad about this but women seem to be the experts when it comes to ill fitting footwear. Better yet ask an orthopedic surgeon about all the "fun" stuff you'll get to experience thanks to ill fitted shoes and boots. Learn to do it right or suffer the consequences. Your choice.

yea i'm with crane if you lace shoes a different way and wear the right socks it usually takes away what problems you might have. you'd probably better off with the 8.5.

Thanks Crane and crosswound! :)

Hello, I'm new to this forum, but I recently took delivery from *********** on a pair of wolverine 1000 mile Austen boots, in brown two days ago.

The tongues are two separate pieces, and on both shoes, the stitching that joins the tongues together is unraveling on both sides.

On one boot, the stitching at the top is also unraveling.

I'm very disappointed. I expect this from made in china disposable footwear, not from something made in the USA that has a list price over 350 dollars.

Unbelievable.

May I know where you got them from sir?

I wrote where I got them in my original post, but it was censored.

I assume I'm allowed to tell you from where I got them if you PM me though.

looking at my 1000 milers .... it is a single leather sole?

Now, after two days of wear, one of the eyelets on the right boot is tearing out of the leather. I just noticed it. I'm at work, I'll post pictures when I get home.

This doesn't sound good.

I snapped a quick cell phone pic of the eye that is tearing out.

Keep in mind, this is after essentially 4 hours of wear, which included about a 1/4 mile walk through a shopping center and one lace-up and drive to workl

Are you lacing them super tight?

Even if he is, the laces should break long before this happens. It's a defect; exchange them.

No, I'm not lacing them very tight. Even so, as Hoodyear said, it should not matter. My foot should turn blue and drop off before the eyelet tears out of the leather like that. I'm contacting Wolverine and the online shop I got them from. I'll post some pictures of the unraveling threads on the tongues later, if anyone cares to see them.

I will let you know if I get any positive results from talking to the seller and maker.

Wolverine will most likely tell you to deal with the place you bought them from.

Just recently bought a pair of 1000 mile boots for winter in nyc and was wondering, do I need to apply anything to the boots during winter?
