I'd ignore that advice. Reminds me of this:

LEAD Technologies Inc. V1.01

Maybe for suede though...

Find a new cobbler.

Just picked up a new pair of brown 1k boots. I also bought some snow seal and boot oil. These will see daily wear and wet pavement and grass.

In what order should I use the sno seal and oil?

Can I also put sno seal on the edging if the boot and the welt?

I put a commando heal and half sole on. Should I also sno seal the area of the sole that is between them?

Never used sno seal before ways used red wing boot oil when I had my iron rangers.

Thanks,

So I have worn these 1ks for about 10 to 15 times now and I noticed today on both that the is a split by the heel.it flexes as I move my foot. Is this anything to worry about?

Mine has been like that for a year. Hasn't gotten any worse. Nonissue IMO.

Yo thanks. Thought it might be an issue in a while

To those of you that have applied Obenauf's LP to your boots, will the darkened leather lighten back up again over time?  I think I may have over-applied the stuff and now my boots don't show the rich brown color anymore. The benefit is I can slosh through rain and snow no problem.

Thanks!

Just ordered the Montgomery for half price as 2nds from Sierra Trading Post. Fingers crossed for a pair that have only a negligible reason for being 2nds.

This happened to me, called Wolverine customer service, they saw pictures and agreed it was more than usual. Told me to send 'em back to the seller (Crane's) and Crane sent me a new pair. After a bit, still had a tiny split, so went to a cobbler and they used a couple more nails to keep it down. Cobbler said wasn't a big deal, Wolverine just nailed the heel too far in. Still a tiny bit of separation (literally barely enough for a piece of paper) but all good now. I wouldn't worry too much.

Sorry I haven't been able to read all the posts in this thread, but has anyone experienced this kind of issue with their boots? It seems like the coloring/leather on my shoe is rubbing off. Anyway to fix or remedy this? I've only had these boots for roughly 1 month.

What are you doing to them to cause this?
