(rave) Bumble & Bumble Hair Gel (new)

I'm not much for shilling for a hair care product, but the new Bumble & Bumble hair gel is pretty damn cool. I don't know what the hell they did, but it's unlike any other hair product I've tried.

(available on their website, bloomingdales. Ricky's carries B&B but they don't yet have the gel)

Once when I was getting my hair cut and Bumble and Bumble, David Caruso came in to get his eyelashes dyed.

Does it make your hair like, super shiny? I hate it when my hair looks super greasy but sometimes you need to go with a gel like that for any kind of a hold...

No, not super shiny. It adds a very slight luster (not up to a shine), and medium plus hold. So it makes your hair look better and keeps it in place without becoming a helmet.

Separately they have a brillante (sp?) product which adds a bit more shine.

They've clearly put some effort into coming up with new products that have certain effects.

i'm a big fan of Bumble & bumble products too. i'm apprenticing as a side job at a B&b network salon, and while i still use my drugstore stuff bc i'm a big cheapo, the stuff i have been able to splurge on i can definitely tell the difference in quality. they do cost an arm and a leg but in my experience the higher end salon stuff lasts longer, has better memory, can be reactivated multiple times, and you don't have to use as much of it. i don't have to worry about flakiness or stuff being too sticky/tacky. of course, this is also dependent on the competence of your stylist to reccommend the right product and show you how to use it correctly. i know a couple stylists at my salon have to go to B&b headquarters annually for continual education and teach the rest of the salon everything they learn to remain 'in the network' and sell the product. anyway, i'm a big fan of their Gellac for rockin a vintage slicked back pompadour - the strength of Murray's but it washes out, ha.
