Any brand of glucosamine sulfate will work. Walmart sells it and that's where I get it from. Just make sure you get sulfate and not the HCl. It metabolizes to chondroitin while the HCl variant won't. You'll save big money over the glucosamine/chondroitin compounds.

Yea it is. The omega-3 fatty acids doesn't rebuild the joints or anything but it helps protect them. It also works as an anti-inflamatory. It also prevents wear and tear.

if you go search through pubmed there's nothing in there about glucosamine that makes it worth purchasing. nothing more than speculation and hopeful implications

Tried it after I had knee surgery for a meniscal tear. What really helped me was strenghething the support muscles around the knee.

that's the best post-op treatment. keep the muscles around the damaged joint/ligament strong and you have less stress on the ligament. taking pills is a waste of money in this case

It's possible that it might raise cholesterol levels, so it's good to have those monitored.

Unfortunately, I'm getting older. I played Ice Hockey for about 20 years through college and all the way up to training camp for a minor league team. Soccer in school for about 8 years and I've been doing Muay Thai for about the last 2 years. My Doc says that I've just probably really worn down the cartilage in my knees. I really noticed my knees hurting when I started training for my first MT fight. I've really needed to switch over to exercises that require less pounding on the knees. So, someone recommended Glucosamine to help repair cartilage. Going to see what the Doc says again in a week or two.

No not seriously. Cortisone has a nasty habit of destroying what you want to fix.

Glucosamine helps keeps joints working properly. As pointed out already, which my doctor has repeatedly said to me too, is strength training the affected areas is the best solution for most minor joint problems.

I've found cod liver oil really helped my achey joints. It took about 4 weeks to notice the effect, but then I found it worked well. I take 10ml of cod liver oil and 10ml of olive oil everyday (olive oil for health). It seems to work very well for keeping cholesterol and triglycerides healthy too

I use either Sevenseas, or a uk health food store chain called Holland and Barrett's own brand, as I trust both for quality
