A Single Man.

A pretty good movie. I thought it was perfectly stylish. At first I thought the aesthetics would overwhelm the story and make up for the fact that it could possibly be emotionally insubstantial, but I was wrong. Not being familiar with the book, I had no idea what to expect other than the Tom Ford connection. Suffice it to say, I saw a lot of myself in the lead character. And, everyone I know who saw it said they saw me in it, too. Although, I think a lot of men can understand that kind of quiet, burgeoning intensity.

"Mmm, Arpège."

I forgot to mention that I thought the ending was dumb.

^I thought this ending made your post dumb.

Edit: I'm in a snarky mood, without the humour

Having only recently seen one other Firth movie, Genova, I've put this on the download list.

Does this belong in the great back doors thread?

I am watching this now. It will probably be a couple of days before we finish it because my GF just can't stay awake for these fascinating movies that I love so much.

I saw it on a plane as it was one of several offered by the airline on an international flight. I didn't know anthing about it until I saw it. I liked it, but I'm not sure the people sitting around me did. There were a few awkward moments.

I enjoyed this movie. As long as you're not a tool that gets offended by the slightest displays of homosexuality you should like this film. Ford did a great job.

I thought the main character's house and car were just as awesome as his clothes.

I showed it to a (married) female friend. She thought it was utterly depressing and asked why I inflicted this horror on her. She stopped before the ending.

Next time, try watching Short Bus on the plane.
