Does anyone have any experience with this make? Comments on quality, comfort, fit, etc. appreciated.

It is one of the better makes in The Netherlands, for whatever that's worth. I seem to remember it is mentioned in 'The gentleman' as the best Dutch choice(, for whatever that's worth). I have two pairs a pair of black cap toe oxfords and a pair of brown suede half high shoes (chuckas?). Haven't worn the oxfords often enough to be sure, but happy with the other pair.I have to say though that my experience with high end shoe makers is limited. They are sturdy, though. The noble blue line (now advertised on sf) is supposedly the higher end line. Have not tried them. A drawback, imo are the wider sole parts sticking out from the nose. It makes them a little less sleek, stylingwise.

Greve is probably the premier rtw Dutch shoe make.
see http://www.greve.eu/

Van Bommel Noble Blue follows closely.

The above two brands will probably make the SF approved cut if purchased on a slight discount.(little bit overpriced, but aren't all shoe brands?)

The below two brands I wouldn't bother with, every now and then they produce something nice, but it is not very exciting nor high quality.

Then regular Van Bommel

followed by Van Lier.

I think Van Lier is mentioned in the book. Also FWIW.

In my experience, van Bommel's main line produces good, solid shoes. I would rate them as considerably better than van Lier.

The shoes in my avatar are van Bommel btw - and are holding up very well.

Those are very nice!.

They would be even better without the wide protruding sole. Although with the way I walk, there is something to be said for the added protection.

Thanks, I hadn't really noticed that until now...

Seems like something that could be easily fixed.

Thank you for the informative responses everyone.
I am rather intrigued by this manufacturer since meeting a man recently who absolutely swore by their quality. Sadly our conversation was cut short and I failed to get more information out of him.

Can anyone give me an estimate on sizing.
I know lasts will vary, but an overall idea;
example- I take a 10.5D-11D (US) or (44-44.5 EU) in a typical pair of AE or Alden.
Would this translate to a 9.5 or 10 UK equivalent in Van Bommel?
In other words, are their sizing rougly equivalent to UK sizing?
My feet are probably a 10.75D ..that is why I fluctuate (from make to make) on US sizes.
