Actually, I think this is fairly common for a lot of cats. My uncle and aunt, who live in Lake Arrowhead (forested mountains in Southern California for our non-Cali board members) have a cat who stalked a deer in their backyard once. This was also the cat who charged at a coyote who wandered onto their property. The coyote, apparently, was so shocked that he took off running, but they called the cat back and locked him inside before the coyote could regain his wits.

The octopus is my favorite sea-dwelling creature. This thread has combined my two favorite animals in the kingdom.

You underestimate the RJ Cat. Yes, that cat is a manx.

My favorite animal is the shark. Strange choice for a surfer, I know.

I'd say that Jack has serious cojones (sp?) but seeing how he is a house cat, he probably lost them a while ago. Maybe that made him more bitter and angry

Ah, well. At least Stephen Colbert sent him some ringing brass ones to wear around his neck. (Actually, his whole bit about the mighty kitty was pretty good.)

Colbert did a story on the cat? Do you have a clip of this (I don't have cable)?

Can I call 'em or what? Time to go make sure TiVo recorded the episode.

Sorry, no clip. I tivoed it and watched day before yesterday, which probably means it was on Tuesday. But not necessarily. It was the "good night" segment, after the interview. If I remember right there was even video of this declawed cat chasing the bear up the tree! In an entirely unrelated story, yesterday I had a cat run up to me as I was walking to work. No violence intended. It was meowing, rubbing its head on my pants legs, and once I stopped it started rolling around in front of me like it wanted me to scratch it. Which, being a hopeless sap for cats, I did as it purred. My mother's cat and my brother's cat do that routinely, but I've never had a stranger cat do that before.
