That does sound pretty awesome I would settle for low rise 501 STFs. In fact if that was available I wouldn't have got my APCs Either that or the 514 Imprints... for some reason they're discontinued

These are hemmed since I'm pretty short.
Fit pics once I clean my place...

^^hey notsure--how did you find the fit being pretty short. Was in Parke and Ronen and Ronen himself was telling me to buy Matchstick's as Levi's is not going to make them any more. He derided these new selvedge ones as being only available in one length (34) and with a longer rise than the old 30 inseam Capital E's. He felt like they were mass marketing to big Americans and the longer rise would be unflattering to anyone not 6 feet tall. Your experience? The matchsticks are $75 bucks more and non-selvedge. But they do fit nice...

The rise is definitely not long, but then again, I wear 501 STFs too, what do I know..

They feel the same as my tumbled rigids, but when I get back from my trip this weekend, I'll take measurements to compare and try to do some fit pics with both the tumbled rigids and the selvedge versions. I'm only 5'6" and I imagine they're hemmed down to about 29-30" or so. They're probably looser than on someone who is 6' but I don't consider them 'loose'. I'll let you guys decide once I post pics.

Can someone measure the front and back rise of the selvedge 514's? Wondering if they're a little longer than the washed 514's.

No copper rivets and two-horse patch on these Levi's ?

went to the levi store just to see if they had them and i saw what looked like the 514 selvage, but with a closer look, they were identical to those pictures a few posts up, just not selvage and $69 or so. just thought it was funny they were listed as 'rigid' and were some of the softest jeans i'd ever felt, the exact opposite of rigid.

there were black STF 501 too. almost got a pair.

I have seen them. I just was suprised, because I thought that it is Levi's tradition to have two-horses patch and copper rivets.

I'm intrigued if the rise is a bit longer on the selvedge models. I'm 6'2" and would actually like a slightly longer rise on the 514.

I have a pair of those, and you're right. They are thin and very soft. That said, I do like the jeans with brown shoes and a button down + sweater. Edit for clarity: I'm also referring to the non-selvedge "rigid" 514s

I'm a big fan of 514 fit. I will definitely check these out. Hopefully they have some at the local Levi Store to try them on.

In terms of waist sizing, if Capital E Matchstick 29" waist fits me, will a 514 Selvedge 29" waist? Or are the sizings somewhat different across lines/models?
